Notice Sheridan: Lakers Discussed Idea of Acquiring Damian Lillard

Are you kidding me... Ball and Collins won’t hit their prime for 5 years... and yes at that time they could dominate... Dame will be 33 making 40+ mil a year... and you hating on Lonzo is ignorant... he is a generational talent, a 6’6” PG who plays defense and has elite passing to make all of his teammates better... stop wanting to hold Dame hostage because you feel you emotional stability depends on him... go get help, it’s kinda creepy tbh

Curious as to just how many people YOU are gonna call emotional and in need of help around here?

You already have 3 of those 5 on the team. And Dame is better than Ball. So why not just keep Dame, Simons, Collins and Nurk and find a SF? You can always trade him later. Ingram would be great next to Dame, just not Ball. Ingram played his best last year when he actually ran the offense while Ball was hurt.

The best bet is to see how Simons and or Trent progresses and if and when they do, then you trade CJ for a quality SF..... if you can't find one by then without trading him.
Exactly, and Dame will be better than Ball at that point in time... So basically, we need a Brandon Ingram level SF to win a championship, in Gronks mind, and we can trade C.J. in this scenario, because Gronk didn't include him in that lineup. Lmao.

Not liking this package is fine... but you need to build for 3 years down the road... what I don’t understand is the mentality that you would rather go down with the ship than trade Dame for assets... and let’s be real, Dame’s value will NEVER be higher then right now after getting in 1st team...

Why do you insist on this type of behavior?

We all get that you think you know you are right and everyone else is wrong. Now quit with the insults already....

Consider the source.

There's 4-5 posters constantly saying things like this about others.

Ironically, none of them realize they are, in fact, the emotional ones. Or at least they won't fess up to it here.

Because he knows all of course. Come on man. Get with the times.

I certainly have emotional reactions to things, and my fandom of the Blazers leads me to emotional reactions once in a while (Sunday for example).
I really try to not let that turn into name calling and insults and that crap. I think we all have bad days though...

Sure, whatever you say. The source is cool as shit. Cool enough to turn the tables on a few around here who invited the source to play their game. They just bitter they got beat at their own game.
It’s comical for those with a true sense of humor and don’t take things serious. ;)

Edit: that is assuming you meant me as the source.

It'd be nice to try to land Klay somehow. If we had space and a good team (Lillard + Butler?) then I feel like we could have a chance. Might be worth trying to get Love too.

I wonder if Trent can be a Klay Thompson type player for us. Both have about the same wing span. (1/2 inch difference) Surprisingly Simons has a slightly longer wing than both of them.

I bet if Klay goes anywhere, it is to the Lakers. he is a free agent next year and if the Lakers do not get Kawhi then Klay is their target. But according to his dad he loves playing for GS, and is going to want that huge pay day. But he loves living in LA too.

I think this is very real. Mychael Thompson is of showtime blood. He can get paid a healthy contract and would be a great fit Next to lbj.
Lbj with Thompson and an improved Ingram/Kusma and ball could be pretty damned good if they get the right bench.

There is no path forward that will give Dame a chance to complete for a title in Portland the next 3 years... it’s the sad reality Neil is put this team in... either maximize his trade value now or risk him walking in 3 years... or resign him at 31 years old for 40+ mil per
Neil didn't create the super teams. Under the old normal, this Blazers team would be a contender. Tearing it down isn't going to make the Blazers a contender either especially as long as a handful of players decide to dictate the winners and the rest of us. Throwing in the towel and trading Dame would be the mother of all panic moves. I for one am ready to roll with the flow.

Go Blazers

It feels like some people wouldn’t trade Lillard even if it made the team better. Just the emotional attachment many have. I root for the laundry not the player. Maybe I’m a jerk. Of course I like some players more than others but if New Orleans wanted Lillard for A Davis I’ll help him pack.
I'd do that trade too. But the other side won't

'Lillard's value will never be higher after making all nba 1st team.'

Right because magically the league didn't know Lillard was good before he got that honor.
I mean.. Maybe Westbrick didn't know.(because Westbrick blocks out how badly Lillard owns him)
But to anyone not wearing blinders...
Every gm knew how good Lillard is. While also knowing it will take a kings ransom to get him out of Portland.
They knew this before he made all-nba 1st team. They know it now.
It didn't magically raise his trade value. To say so is some @SlyPokerDog trolling.

On a side note.
This fully sums up Lonzo's worth to GM's around the league.

You guys in PDX got to know Colin when he was there. Was he like that then? I used to like him in the mid 2000's. His show was comical, filled with goofy impressions, and sports talk. Then he hit paydirt, and his takes got all "lick the big boys balls". Not just today, on most of his takes now.
Yes he was. I despise him. Haven't watched him once since he parlayed his smug cynicism into a ticket out of town. Good riddance

Just to be clear, my 1st choice is to keep Dame and trade for Kawai, or Love and give it a shot... but if Neil can’t make it happen then it’s time to move on now at peek value and get as many assets as possible
Now that's a plan we agree on.

I haven't seen Colin in a long time... and I heard he has changed for the worse, but he was always super nice when I worked at 910 The Fan. He tried to help get me an internship at KGW but I ended up passing. I have nothing but good things to say about him when he was in Portland. But again, I have heard he has become a real tool since then.

I listened to him 3-4 years ago, and while he is a typical national guy (labor on one sport/player/team, I.E. his love for Tom Brady), as a person I don't think he's changed too much. He's been open about going to therapy, etc. which I think is really cool.

Well, that was fun editing all those posts...thanks guys for keeping me entertained.
If you have to edit it in the quote of someone elses post, you might as well delete the post...

Amigo, remind me how many posts you made buggin’ about @HCP and his treatment of all the rooks, you included? The people that directly accuse folks of being worked up are typically the ones that are most worked up.

It’s not a judgment or knock. People should just learn to be honest with themselves and others.

When I was interning at 910, I was also working at PDX in the ground transportation area. I was working and I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and it was Colin. He came over to say hi and shake my hand. I didn't even think he knew my name or who I was, but he went out of his way to come over and say hi. I would be disappointed if he changed.

Yeah, just from my take on him - as annoying as he is as a sports guy (I had to turn him off sometimes) as a person I think he'd be a really nice guy still. Rough around the edges a bit (more of a defense mechanism it feels like), but overall a really solid guy who remembers where he came from. When I listened to him just a couple years ago he talked about Portland (The city) often.
