SPURS @ BLAZERS - GAME THREAD

When San Antionio was making their run at the end, Miller was dribbling a little too long. A few possessions he took jumpers that were *shiver*.

It certainly wasn't a flawless performance, but I thought he did a pretty nice job trying to fit in when he hasn't really been on the floor late in games, because Nate has favored Blake in the final 5 or 6 minutes. I was just happy that he seemed to settle in (mostly) and showed that Roy and he can in fact be productive when they are both on the court.

Bottom line: The Spurs are still a helluva team when it comes to playing half-court defense and you have to give them some credit for making all of the team's points harder to come by once the first quarter was over.

I think we match up terrifically with San Antonio. Not so much with other teams who play at a faster pace.

You might be right, however, I saw a tenacity tonight that gave me great hope no matter who we play on a given night. We withstood an onslaught of focused defense and offense from the spurs. The Blazers responded with defense and offense of their own.

My biggest fear, after the loss to the Hawks, was Nate losing the team. Tonight brought evidence that is not the case. This team will be something special... even Hubie was impressed, and he is not easily impressed.

Go Blazers!

we still need a new coach...wins just gloss over/cover up. Food for thought.....SA is an ancient team playing a 2nd of a back to back....and we have a lot of rest. Just a reminder.

Sure, I have to hand it to them tonight. I still dislike the lineup. Remember, Parker didn't even play the second half.

Hubie kinda....never really knows what he's talking about.

Good to get a win. But again, just a terribly frustrating game. The fourth quarter execution was horrible. The blazer should have beaten the spurs by more but it was their offensive execution and the lack of it that kept the spurs in the game. LaMarshmallow Aldridge, how do you let a small forward, Richard Jefferson PUSH YOUR ASS AROUND??? God damn, that was frustrating. I hate to tell you this LMA YOU ARE SOFT!!! Get it?? SOFT!!! Don't like it, get your ass in there and do something about it god damn it. It's bs. You were a non factor and your submissiveness almost lost this game for your team. Total and utter bs.

All in all, good win. But this team is not out of the woods. No where close.

Every silver lining has a big grey cloud inside, eh RoyIsClutch07? :devilwink:

The tone shift there was amusing. "GOD DAMN IT, THAT WAS TOTAL BS. I couldn't take the frustration!!! Anyway, good game."

Okay, you're right. You know more than Hubie Brown. I can't argue with your indepth analysis anymore. I wandered into the deep end and I'm drowning. You win.

He frustrates me almost as bad as Sheed frustrated me. Neither one of these guys are "Power Forwards".

Would you prefer the label "awesome forward" for those guys? Get that pesky word "power" out of there and all.

Do you love Hubie that much? Guys here criticize everyone, Quick, Canzano, Nate, Hollinger, JVG, Barkley, etc. Someone thinks Hubie is a bad announcer and you jump to his rescue. Loyal one aren't you?

You didn't say he was a bad announcer. You said he didn't know what he was talking about.

And considering how stupid I view most of the stuff you write, including that, I found it pretty amusing...

To answer your question though, yeah, I think Hubie is probably the best color guy out there, him and Doug Collins. He sure beats the shit out of guys like Reggie Miller.

Looks like the good ju-ju thread did it's job tonight. Blazers played solid from top to bottom!

And I still don't think he does.

Feel free to ignore me. :)

Good for you. I think he stinks. Differing opinions, eh?

Sounds like Miller called a majority of the plays tonight. Very interesting that McMillan was able to realize his flaws and give Andre the reigns.

Even though Aldridge had a piss poor game tonight, I was more worried about the team's "physical nature" on the court. They played with a sense of urgency and unity I've read most complained we haven't had all season. I'm just glad Oden played well tonight. And the funny thing is, you look at his stats, and you would think he had a average game.

Crazy watching Oden come on the court and Spurs had to change their game plan. Oden didn't even have to score tonight, and the rebounding was PF-like. But MAN OH MAN did he alter shots tonight! That dominance made people miss shots, without him even being in the area. Weird really!

I still find it ridiculous that after 4 years in college, and 11 years in the NBA, Andre Miller still can't shoot long range. I mean seriously, how does this happen?

On both possessions that I'm thinking of Miller didn't touch the ball until late in the clock or got the ball off of a botched play. Nice try anyway.

I guess we were thinking of different possessions.

We won, so botched plays were probably all part of the master plan. :devilwink:

They had a really small driveway at the home he grew up in. :drumroll:

What is so hard to believe? Magic Johnson couldn't hit a jumper to save his life! Ray Allen has NO handles! Not every player can do everything. That's what makes guys like Lebron so special.

NBA players have access to courts everyday, I would assume he has tried to work on it at least a little bit, but it still doesn't work. My dad, who never played a minute of organized basketball in his life, could probably hit as many wide open three's as Miller. And I know I could hit more. I know of course he is better than me at everything else by A LOT. But an NBA point guard should be able to shoot better than that.

Different people have different skill sets. I could never shoot, but could handle the ball and pass well. I have a lot of friends who could dunk and block the shit out of your shot, but couldn't make a free throw to save their lives. Can't be good at everything my man.

Tru dat. Other than 3pt% you can't really complain about any of Miller's career stats. He also knows his limitations, that's why he never jacks 3s unless its against the shot clock or he is VERY wide open.
