Only caught the last 3 minutes, but the refs were definitely swallowing whistles late - SA was all over our guys.

Is Baldwin as good as his stats have indicated?

Who was the better IV - Walker or Baldwin?

(Has that ever happened in the NBA before?)

If he was trying to be a stat whore he would be bolstering his numbers with three pointers. He is clearly working on developing a post game, which he didn't use much last year. I don't expect 50% out of the gate.

Funny take.

Couldn't watch the game (darn work), who/what allowed the comeback by SA? I noticed Trent had a nice line, but a -13 plus/minus.
Also took 5 more shots than anyone else.

Game 3 thoughts:

Baldwin - is contributing in a big way every game. 16/2/9 with 5 steals and is not shooting 50% from '3' for SL And again, whomever he was guarding had a poor shooting night.
Layman - is 7-9 from '3' in his last two games and 8-13 (.615) overall. 15 points, 8 rebs, a block and a steal. Filling up the stat sheet every night.
Swanigan - still can't finish to save his life (2-10) but is rebounding and passing well. (9/5) But the turnovers.... :banghead2:
Simons - off night shooting 4-13. Still doesn't have 1 assist in three games so far. I know he's used to being the man but learn to give it up.
Trent - Speaking of not giving it up, Machine Gun Trent got up 17 shots in 25 minutes. 4-8 from '3' but also no assists and was a -13.
Jenkins - And in the player no one is paying any attention to, JJ is shooting 13-17 (a whopping .765) so far in three games played.

Still, a nice win especially without Collins who hopefully is back for the SL playoffs.

I agree for the most part. After watching the highlights and the last two games live:
Baldwin: really want to see him get some major minutes this year. His defense and aggression would be very welcome. The fact that he can run an offense and do a bit of everything makes him a player. Personally I want to see him supplant CJ at some point (unlikely, but I can dream);
Layman: looks like he should, but really want to see him do that in real games. He would be so valuable as a SF or stretch 4 off the bench.
Swanigan: ugh. If he was playing in the rotation I would hope he would rebound, play defense and pass, and maybe shoot the three. If he's under the basket: 1) don't pass it to him; 2) if he gets the ball under the basket pass it out. If he does that he could be a backup point center.
Simons: Looks comfortable out there. Glad he has time to learn the game. I think he could be CJ with better defense down the road.
Trent: as many have said, Crabbe with a more aggressive take.

I really thought we were going to be all about the bigs in the summer league this year? It's been all Layman and the guards so far. Zachs impact has been mostly on the defensive side.

Better. Stats don't show defense. He shut down Trae Young game 2.

In game 3, the (SA) announcers were all over Lonnie Walker's jock. Walker did look like an interesting prospect, but did not fill the stat sheet and only finished 5-13. Baldwin guarded him once. He tried to go around Baldwin, get into the paint, and score. Baldwin blocked his shot.

@Darkwebs hurry up with the game four thread! I need advance info so I figure out how to get it recorded. I missed this game and it’s all your fault! When they change channels you need to make that crystal clear for those dumbasses like me!!

Definitely better. Whomever he is guarding has a poor to abysmal shooting night. When he runs the offense, he is making 'beyond his years' decisions and also setting up his defender to make the correct pass. His assist to TO ratio is off the charts...especially for LVSL.

quick add: ...and he has a lot of assists.
Game 1: He wanted to show he could score, check.
Game 2: He wanted to show he could get other players involved... 10 assists, check.
Game 3: He wanted to show he could get other players involved... 9 assists, check.
Game 3: Spurs make a big comeback... He goes around his defender and lays it up, check.

Basically, he has been able to do anything he wants.

Edit: he's also shown that he's pretty much the best player on either team in the first 3 games.

Downside:
There's an extremely small, but nonzero chance Neil doesn't sign him.
There's an small chance Stotts doesn't play him.

Either of these would really piss me off.

I knew Layman would make strides this season....early on when we were drafting nobody agreed with me...now I must go pat myself on the back and gloat a bit

Unfortunately, Game 4 info hasn't been released for any team yet.
