Politics The Joe Biden Thread (2 Viewers)

We did vote for the opposite of evil chaos and only given an old white man as political choice. It's only 80 days since Joe Biden took over. He may be our only choice and he has policies we don't agree with but it's better than four more years of extreme Circus culture..
So far, I like his policies.

Lanny: I didn't like his immediate oil pipeline leasing and fracking hold. A lot of people including townspeople and family were affected by it. That should have been scoped over time.
His new package for infra structure includes cell phone towers and I think that's a carrier decision made for companies like Verizon, which collects from everyone like another mortgage company.
Otherwise, as I said, he is superior to the ass hat that once occupied the presidency.

Joe's anti oil stance is greatly overexagerated by conservative news. There is no fracking hold. There is a hold on new drilling on public lands however, all existing fracking is still going strong along with all new drilling/fracking on private lands, which include almost all of Texas. Also pipeline hold is just the Keystone pipeline which handles a lot of Canadian oil. So Bidens oil decisions have little to no affect to what is currently already going on.

Thanks for the clarification. The Keystone pipeline was the area I referred to.

Is there any verification that (a) this is Chipman in the photo, or (b) that the background is Waco? I haven't seen it, and the claims that Chipman was at both Waco and Ruby Ridge seem not impossible, but somewhat improbable.

You’re more than welcome to disprove it.

Anyone who’s worked in or adjacent to the oil industry knows Democrats are only posturing when it comes to opposition to oil and gas production. That gravy train usually chugs right along irrespective of the party in office.

I appreciate that, but at present I have no plans to invest any effort along those lines.

The proposed pipeline affected a lot of people who didn't want it.

Debate doesn't work that way and neither does a courtroom. It is up to the person making the assertion to make the argument for said assertion. In other words show your proof and then allow the reader(s) to present the counter proof. This is Debate 101.

Im in neither a debate nor a courtroom. I have exactly zero obligations here.

I'm just telling you what most people expect in here but you can be whatever you want and it doesn't even have to be nice.

I don't really give a crap.

The point is: If you take a small portion of any president's military budget, we could literally end homelessness and poverty in America.

That's a reasonable point. I'd argue that homelessness isn't simply a money issue and cutting the defense budget wouldn't fully solve it, but the extra $ would help.

When you understand this simple fact, you can easily see how little any president cares about America.

Presidents aren't all-powerful. There's a very large military constituency in this country. Once we start spending money on something, it's very difficult to stop. Our system of government is rigged against change, of any sort.

Edit: Not directed at anyone here at all. Gamestop literally showed us that the game is rigged in favor of the ultra rich. Your party literally helps to keep it rigged in their favor. Wake up to that simple fact and you might one day be able to pull your head out of your parties ass. Until then, you will stay forever willfully ignorant.

Oh, sure.

Our government could unrig the system. They are the ones who rigged it in the first place.

The 'rigging' to favor the wealthy/elites is far older than the USA.

The government could unrig the system. I'm merely pointing out why that's very unlikely to happen under our current form of government.

So please stop trying to tell me the president has no power. That line of reasoning holds no water.

'not all-powerful' does not mean 'has no power'.

I am done here. You bring no proof of anything you ever say. Just argue with a misguided belief, which does neither of us any good. Your belief is no better than mine or anyone else's as it isn't even based in facts.

Ok then.

You'd think so, but the nation is geared up for the military and the dollars are not efficiently converted from Defense to social spending. The change has to be gradual. Think of the unemployment you'd have to deal with.

Should We Reallocate The US Military Budget?

So you know how I gave the current administration the benefit of the doubt and estimated a $704-708 billion budget this year? Shortly after I finished this episode the actual budget request was released...$753 billion. More than Trump's budget. Just goes to show that the US, no matter which party is in power, will always spend more and more absurd sums on the military.

This is the sick world we live in because our government doesn't give a shit about us.

We are ants on the pie plate. I agree. Pres. Eisenhower predicted the military industrial complex would run the show and that was over 70 years ago. The budget will bloat because China is a military monster now.

Pelosi Slammed For Tone Deaf George Floyd Comments, Thanks Him For Being Murdered.

She was stone cold. Seems more like a stock monotonous announcement rather than a Joe Biden heart on the sleeve approach.
