No question about that. You are correct.

Proposing something that isn't going to get implemented for a long time, if ever, can be of value... but it's also of value to propose things that actually can get implemented in the short/middle term.

You go to the election with the voters you have, not the voters you might want or wish to have at a later time.

I get what you're saying, but Bernie would have beaten Trump. Both times. With the voters we had.

We have these shitty systems because we are propping up people who propose trash written by corporations.

ACA was decent until the public option was dropped.

We get jobbed because both parties want it that way and we accept it, and even defend it...

Maybe. We'll never know.

But what we do know is that Presidents aren't all-powerful, and congress doesn't just automatically pass whatever the Prez thinks they should.

We have these shitty systems because voters keep voting for some awful people as their senators and congresspeople. And because our system of government is specifically designed to make change difficult to impossible.

Which is an absolute shame.

I used to believe politicians couldn't ram shit through. But I've seen how the GOP and Trump actually do ram incredibly unpopular shit through, while making politicians terrified to join the opposition. So now I'm not so sure anymore...

Again, it's really a shame we didn't get that opportunity to ram some popular and beneficial shit through...

Well, they were able to ram some stuff through - although they failed on much more - but when they succeeded (tax cuts, supreme court) it was because they were united that that's what they all wanted. There aren't any republicans who oppose those things, and they aren't very complicated issues. Taxes bad, right-wing judges good.

When it came to more complex issues ("repeal and replace") they failed. It's very hard to get everyone (on either side) to agree about healthcare.

Prices Soar as Corporate Profiteers & Speculators Drive Inflation; It Hurts the Developing World

Corporations are gauging Americans. Seemingly with Biden's blessing, as he isn't doing a damn thing to curb their greed.

Yeah, kinda like building supply companies following hurricanes/tornadoes.

Trucks are already inspected by Feds. This is a publicity stunt for Abbott to get on Fox.

Between what they say and what they actually do. Shows that our presidents, don't give a crap about American workers, and therefore, don't care about America.

Amazon/Bezos are for the most part very progressive but yet they are opposed to Unionization?

I haven't seen where Amazon/Bezos are very progressive. Or even progressive at all. Maybe a facade of progressiveness, but that is all I see.

Amazon/Bezos hire union busting firms. So, yes, I would say that they are very much against unions.

Do the liberals have anyone on-deck to replace this train deck? I hope so. But who?!

Activists Decry Biden's 'Reckless' Resumption of Fossil Fuel Leases on Public Lands

"This is an ugly betrayal of Joe Biden's campaign promises and his administration's rhetoric on environmental justice and climate action."

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...ss-resumption-fossil-fuel-leases-public-lands

"Biden's Interior Department has even issued permits to drill at a rate faster than the Trump administration," she added. "Now, the Bureau of Land Management is preparing to hold its first public lands lease sale, despite having no legal obligation to do so. If Biden wants to be a climate leader, he must stop auctioning off our public lands to Big Oil."

Biden is outpacing Trump on drilling permits.

Biden promises one thing, then goes and does the opposite. He is truly an American politician.

As much as it sucks, it's far better than having Trump in office. But yeah, I fully expected exactly this once it became apparent that Biden was the DNC choice... Of course, I think most other Dem candidates would as well.

Biden coming to Seattle for Earth Day clean energy speech

(The Center Square) – President Joe Biden is set to visit Seattle on Friday, Earth Day, to discuss the clean energy economy. This will be the first time President Biden has been in the Seattle area as the sitting-president.

“On Earth Day, Friday, April 22, the President will travel to Seattle, Washington to discuss his Administration’s efforts to continue bringing down costs for American families and growing our clean energy economy,” the White House said in a statement sent out to several media outlets.

This Seattle visit comes alongside the president’s visit to Portland, Oregon on Thursday, in which he will discuss his infrastructure bill that will allocate $1.2 billion in that state. President Biden signed the infrastructure bill into law in November, 2021.

Biden’s infrastructure bill brings an estimated $8.6 billion in tax dollars back to the state of Washington for highway programs, bridge replacement and repairs, transit and airport improvements, electric vehicle charging station construction, clean water infrastructure work, and broadband expansion.

The last time Biden visited Seattle was in 2019 as part of his presidential campaign pre-pandemic in which he attended a fundraiser at the home of Amazon executive David Zapolsky. The last time Seattle had a presidential visit was in 2016, during then-President Barack Obama’s second term.
