Politics The Joe Biden Thread (2 Viewers)

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

CEOs and other business leaders who supported Democrats in the past are getting behind Trump due to Biden wanting them to pay, not their fair share, but a slightly larger share of taxes. They would hardly be impoverished. And they know exactly what Trump is. But tax cuts for the rich trump, pun intended, the Constitution.

Greed is their reason, no other reason.

I loved how, on the daily show, Bill D'ohReilly was blaming the inflation on Biden, and Jon goes "what has he done to cause the inflation" and Bill responds "I don't know".

There, in a nutshell, is the issue with their arguments that people are believing. They knowingly lie about things or mislead for their own financial gain.

Eric Weinstein talks a lot about how the green card system was created to suppress the wages of highly skilled jobs. And migration from the southern border can suppress wages for low income earners.

People get emotional about it, but it's a numbers game. There's a point to where they might be filling needs and a point to where they suppress wages.

The title of the video: "Immigration is diluting us." Screams white supremacy.

I'm not sure that makes much sense. Steve Schmidt surely has no power over congressional democrats. He doesn't control any significant funding for democrats.

He absolutely does, though.

The superPAC he heads up, Pass the Torch, funds Democrats. It's already spent more than half a million dollars in this election and has a lot more in its warchest.

Reportedly, Schmidt or his associates told the seven most vulnerable Democratic senators this year that it earmarked huge donations to their respective campaigns but would not do so until they came out calling for Biden to leave the campaign.

If you want to know more about Schmidt, Pass the Torch, and his role in this, here's an article to start you off.

My main reason for wanting Biden to step aside is that he can’t really articulate any points these days when he speaks.

As the campaign gets closer to November we need someone that can call out Trump and his cronies and I have no faith in Biden doing so.

I watched the Lester Holt interview the other day and it was a hard thing to watch. Biden was cranky and defensive even on softball questions.

We need a candidate who will put pressure on Trump and the Republicans. Someone who will go to a debate and articulate points and call out lies.

The Democrats need to cogently do so. Biden’s not that guy anymore.

It does if you're a woke lib. Which is one key point the video addresses.

I post about both Trump and Biden. And yet I'm a woke lib. Hilarious.

I have no problem watching videos. But there is no evidence to be found listening to a person who seems to support white supremacy.

Bring a video without, what seems to be, an extreme right wing agenda. And I'll take a look.

Half a million dollars really isn't all that much, is it?

Where is the reporting on that reportedly?

Yeah, obviously Dean Phillips' campaign was pretty much a combination of ego and bad actors. Same as any campaign that has no chance of winning - the candidate is in it for the attention/funding, and the funders are in it for purposes other than electing the candidate they are funding. See, e.g. JFK Jr, Cornell West, Jill Stein, etc etc.

Forgive me, I'm not as good at breaking up the quotes like you did. I'd really like to be able to.

Half a million isn't a lot, no, but it's still substantial and in line with probably the second tier of donors. What's more relevant is what they have to give.

Where is the Schmidt stuff reportedly reportedly? Well, it was actually posted in this thread or at least on a thread in this forum two pages back, BEFORE you quoted me the first time.

I did misspeak, though. It was Tom Strickler calling on New Mexico's Tom Heinrich that held August donations over the heads of Democratic senators contingent on a public call for Biden to step aside.

This was REPORTED in the New York Times three days ago. I hope that meets with your approval. It also ran in the New Republic, the Hill and other places.

Schmidt put together the Pass the Torch superPAC. Strickler is one of the heavy financers of the Pass the Torch superPAC. Again, it's from the New York Times, which you may or may not trust.

Also, it looks like you deleted the line about people wanting the same thing doesn't mean there's a conspiracy, but when people who are already connected want the same thing and do things in concert largely on the low-down -- and sometimes even things that contradict their supposed ideology -- I think you'd have to agree that's a little sus. It's at the very least highly against the odds to be coincidence.

Like Buttigieg said, it's not that hard to figure out. They just want money and are working together to set up an environment where they can make and keep more of it. It was very much 1890s.

Harris?
“If you think there is a consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave, that they would support Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I’m in these rooms, I see what they say in conversations. A lot of them are not interested in removing the president. They’re interested in removing the whole ticket.”

The wealthy don't have to be quiet about purchasing candidates on both sides to dictate U.S. policy anymore.

Starting with Citizens United and now with these most recent SCOTUS decisions saying it's OK for elected or appointed officials to take essentially bribes as long as they are after the fact have made it perfectly legal.

It's easy, I just type left bracket slash quote right bracket where I want a break, type my comment, and then type left bracket quote right bracket.

thanks! I missed it the first time.

Trust, but verify. I think I heard that someplace.

Also, it looks like you deleted the line about people wanting the same thing doesn't mean there's a conspiracy

I did, because it was actually a partially written reply to a different message.

, but when people who are already connected want the same thing and do things in concert largely on the low-down -- and sometimes even things that contradict their supposed ideology -- I think you'd have to agree that's a little sus. I definitely think that people who are working together can be part of a conspiracy. The example I was going to use in that aborted post was that just because jonnyboy and Nancy Pelosi both want Biden to step down, it doesn't mean that they are working together on it.

Like Buttigieg said, it's not that hard to figure out. They just want money and are working together to set up an environment where they can make and keep more of it. It was very much 1890s.

There's a mixture of motives here. Some Democrats, and some Republicans, want Biden to step down for political reasons. Some of each want him to stay for political reasons. Some people see a money-making opportunity. Some see career advancement. Some want excitement...

And very few of those incentives aligned with the incentives of poor and middle class Americans.

Whatever the system, some people are going to try to take advantage of it. Human nature.
We could fix our system to make it harder to do that. Not clear how we are going to, though, if voters continue to make bad choices.

If Biden decides to stay he can use this kerfuffle as a positive. Resilience. When others doubt you, when you have the dark night of the soul, don't give up. Keep moving forward and do what you think is right.

I've said it before: He's become the non-establishment candidate.

Exactly.

Should I stay or should I y?
If I stay there will be trouble
If I go there will be trouble
So you've got to let me know
Do I commit or do I blow?

Yes, every Democrat was there on that roof and had a hand in the planning, fucking ridiculous.
sorry but your response if fucking ridiculous, if you think that he meant EVERY democrat was on the roof. Fucking stupid or a bit too much TDS. step away from the keyboard and go breath some fresh air for awhile.

Green font.

Surely, the roof would have collapsed.
