Get well big man, see you on the court again around Christmas.

Now it’s Collins time to shine, and it’s time to up the tempo of the offense to get more transition buckets. That would suit Collins skillset offensively at least.

!@#$%^&*()_+ and further more+_)(*&^%$##@!@!. I honestly thought we were done with this shit with Oden and Roy I guess you could probably count Matthews with that too. Lets not forget PA's passing as well. This might be the very reason we cannot get any FA's here. Athletes are very superstitious and you have to admit Portland has had a cloud since the franchise began. I think there is an ancient Indian burial ground underneath the Coliseum and the Rose Garden. The goat may not be enough we might have to resort to virgins in St. Helens

This isn't an Oden, Walton, Bowie thing. He landed wrong.

I do not believe Nurk is going to come back with the " I am afraid to mix it up scenario " 30 years ago his country was a battleground he is not some little snowflake out of college who was pampered all his life and folds like a cheap suit at the first sign of adversity. This right here will make him stronger.

WTF!!! The Sam Bowie curse has resurrected. The Oden curse became the omen. (That ref is cruel.)
In the link, a poster, aka, "the general" dissed him.!! The man gets a compound fracture and this numbskull trolls

Season over.

Hope his recovery goes well but I'd plan for him being out all next year. Calls into question his career. Feel so bad for Nurk.

Now see what we can trade Meyers and Turner expiring for in the summer.

Similar to the Wes injury; it may be the end of an era.
It called into question PGs career too. Look how that turned out.

Ouch.

WTF is up with the ref bumping into Nurk's foot as he's lying on the floor in agony.

"The Oden Curse." lol. That's like leaving the film Get Out and saying, "Boy, that cop was racist."

We've had so many good centers with bad legs it should be called "The Pinwheel Pandemic."

George was out a year and a half. Nurk is done for this season and next.

I’m sick to my stomach.

PG’s injury was on August 1st playing for Team USA. He actually came back in 8 months to play 6 regular season games towards the end of the next season with IND. Had he been hurt in March (instead of August), an 8 month recovery is around Nov/Dec of the following season. No way to tell if Nurk’s timetable will be 8 months like PG, but year and a half seems unlikely.

But like you, I’m still sick to my stomach.

Fuck injuries man. It's always us, in some ways...

But Nurk keep your head up. You had similar injury back in highschool days and you become one of the best centers in NBA. Prayers up for you man!

If I'm Portkand Nurk doesn't play next year. Paul George was out 8 months, but Nurk is a lot heavier. Need to be cautious
I think a year is a stretch. PG came back late in the season to get some reps but he was terrible. Took him 2+ yrs.

That's all true, but Nurk is carrying around a solid 60lbs more weight than PG. A guy that big will have a lot more pressure on his leg.

Also, PG came back for 8 games at the end of the regular season, but he was terrible. 15mpg, 9pts, 3 rebs, 36%fg. He was maybe 50% of where he wanted to be.

He was pretty bad for his first 4 games in the fall when he did come back too. So the first time he played an NBA game like his old self was November 4th, a full 15 months after the injury. It would take 3 more seasons until he evolved into his current MVP caliber self.

So now imagine it's early to mid December. We're around .400, and Nurk xrays look good. He's laboring up and down the court because he's out of shape, and he's useless on pick and roll defense because he can't move his feet quick enough.

Do you think it's likely, given our history with leg problems, Portland shrugs and says "What the hell, let's play him 28mpg" with their 25 year old, locked-up-on-a-long-contract center? The Jason Quick article writes itself: "Remember how ruined Sabonis was because the Soviets brought him back to soon." It's going to be very, very tempting to shut Nurk down for the season. It starts with "playing it safe for another month", and then we get so buried in the standings that at that point the team goes all-in on tanking for a draft pick.

We've been down this path with Roy and Oden. I'm tamping my expectations way, way down.

I think Kanter is going to be a very able replacement.

The same Kanter that teams constantly attack due to his defensive inability? The playoffs make it worse since starters play more minutes.

IMO, Kanter has been a nice pickup for the regular season but is worth far less in the playoffs.

Let's hope Collins can step up.

The closest analog to Nurk's injury is Paul George injury:

- Broke both tibia and fibula on Aug 1.
- Put weight on leg in late September
- Shooting in October
- Full practice end of February
- Played in game on April 5 and didn't really look like himself. His hurdle seemed more mental.

So about 8 months from injury to back on the floor.

I'd add at least a few months to that. The key thing is keeping Nurk engaged mentally and in good physical condition. He can't put on more weight.

I had a very similar experience my freshmen year in college as we were playing a game at Lewis and Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho. In the first inning of the game a ball was hit up the middle on the shortstops side with a runner on first. I move in position towards second base and the shortstop waves me off as he is going to make the play at second himself and the runner (who was also a football player for his school) and came in high and hard and broke his leg in very similar spot to where Nurkic did it. I was only about 3' away and I still remember that sight of his leg hanging and the sound of the bones cracking. Ugly situation.

Here's to a quick recovery Nurk and keep the spirits up as that will be important in your rehab.

Man, FUCK that ref that walks right into Nurk's broken leg as he's laying there in agony.

I'm seriously having trouble coming up with a reason why the ref would take that path right through Nurk's foot?

That guy should be ashamed of himself and probably deserves to be fired for that.

Yeah Tyler Ford...dude is on my shitlist

its the nba where the refs do no wrong and will be backed up to hell or high water. adam silver is probably talking to him now saying what agreat job you guys did at sucking ass at your job so much and clearly being a blind ass bitch kicking/tripping over nurk when hes in immense pain.

Exactly
