Polio is not eliminated in Africa. 80% of new cases there are now are thought to be vaccine-derived with a direct link to the oral polio vaccine. Over 490k people in India are thought to have developed paralysis as a direct result of the same oral vaccine. The Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health conducted studies outlining all of this. There’s a reason Bill Gates galavants around the third world, and it isn’t because he loves the people there. It’s because there’s no oversight and these products need to be tested on humans before being unrolled in the first world where there could be legal implications for their failure.

The oral polio vaccine was tested on humans.

The inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) was available first, given as a shot, in 1955. A more convenient form, called oral polio vaccine (OPV), was given as liquid drops via the mouth. It was developed in 1961. OPV was recommended for use in the United States for almost 40 years, from 1963 until 2000. The results have been miraculous: Polio was eliminated from the United States in 1979 and from the Western Hemisphere in 1991.

I don't think Bill Gates is going to get rich selling polio vaccines to the wealthy countries.

You have to understand, the goal of the vaccines is to force third-world citizens into doing tech support for Microsoft. The microchip in the vaccine turns them into human Clippy's.

"It looks like you're writing a conspiracy theory. Would you like help?"

Thought by who to be vaccine derived? The same vaccine was used in the U.S. with startling effectiveness. Are the people in Africa genetically different? Answer - Absolutely not.
Better check with a more reliable source.

I got both the oral vaccines in grade school and a shot in the Army. Where's my polio?

Fauci says U.S. should see a turning point in the pandemic 'within a few weeks'

KEY POINTS
  • Dr. Anthony Fauci said he expects the U.S. to reach a turning point in the coronavirus pandemic within a few weeks if the current pace of vaccinations holds.
  • The U.S. is pushing to vaccinate adults as quickly as possible as highly contagious variants spread.
  • Fauci said herd immunity to the virus is a "moving target."

I could have sworn he said something like this a few months ago?

He’s a cut throat capitalist. Those are all just markets he’s trying to corner and monopolize like he’s done before in other industries. He’s been involved in anti trust cases and conflicts of interest enough times it’s safe to call that brand of shady business dealings his trademark. And despite the claims of his generosity, his net worth has nearly doubled since expanding beyond the software game.

I don't mean this in a rude way, but that is just a very simplistic take. Is Gates an incredible capitalist? You bet. But he's so much more than that. Your take is kind of like me saying, "Jonnyboy is just a knucklehead on an Internet form." (Note: we all are that.) But that is not who you are, what you do; you are so much more than that, right?

One example: "Claims of generosity"? He's given away more than 1/3 of his net worth, some $35 billion. That's with a B.

I would suggest you read up on him a bit. You might be surprised. He's literally a genius trying to solve some of the most intractable problems the planet has right now.

Bill Gates is the next George Soros.

If everyone wore masks and socially distanced. But not everyone was on board with flattening the curve.

Masks weren't recommended at the time of "Two Weeks to Flatten the Curve". It was a total and complete shutdown of the economy other than non-essential workers.

Nope:

“It’s the free spirit of people in the United States, who understandably felt so cooped up for so long, jobs were lost, the economy went down, so that was almost an all-or-none revolution saying either were going from shutdown to all bets are off,” he said.

However, Fauci reiterated that any congregation will only increase the risk of transmission and infection. To mitigate the damage, he urges people to wear masks.

and

Fauci also clarified that the Chinese government exercised lockdowns that are impossible in the U.S., a country with stronger human rights liberties.

“You have to look at what China did in the beginning that we never would be able to do in a democratic place where people have a free spirit, namely essentially completely lock down a country,” he explained. “I mean, in a way that was very imposing on human rights. We'd never be able to do that in this country.”

Specifically not talking about lockdowns, talking about wearing masks.

When was that? We locked everything non essential down here.

We never actually "locked down." We had stay-at-home orders, which are pretty different from the lockdowns seen in other parts of the world. Non-essential businesses were closed, but people weren't essentially under house arrest, which is what a lockdown really means.

And masks weren't suggested at first because experts were worried that a run on masks by the general public would lead to mask shortages for doctors/nurses/first responders. Pretty soon after that, masks became highly recommended any time you were out of the house and likely to be in close proximity with other people.

But that came after the "2 weeks to flatten the curve".

"Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday ordered all Californians to stay at home, marking the first mandatory restrictions placed on the lives of all 40 million residents in the state’s fight against the novel coronavirus."

But that came after the "2 weeks to flatten the curve".

There have been several "we could flatten the curve/end the pandemic in weeks" proclamations. I was thinking of the one where either Fuaci or the director of the CDC said that if everyone just wore masks and socially distanced, within a few weeks, we'd have everything under control. That was last summer or early fall, as I recall.

I'm not sure which one you're referring to. If you have an article mentioning it, that would be helpful.

2 weeks to flatten the curve was termed early on, probably March 2020. It certainly wasn't summer or fall. By that time, the masks and social distancing were mandated until a vaccine was to be released.

Yeah, that's the stay-at-home order. People were still perfectly free to leave their homes, like for walks or to go to the store. They just weren't allowed to gather in groups and non-essential businesses were closed.

They weren't free to leave their home. They were allowed to leave their home for an approved reason. That's a lockdown. It was a directive.

Stay Home Order
On March 19, 2020, an Executive OrderPDF and a Public Health OrderPDF directed all Californians to stay home except to go to an essential job or to shop for essential needs. These orders were modified by the Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

Enjoy your leftist authoritarian cesspool

We have one forum member who works with mentally challenged individuals and another member who has a family member who is mentally challenged, both have asked very nicely for people to not use the re**** and t*** . I think that is very reasonable request.

Some of us have a cesspool in our yard and respectfully request that the use of the term "cesspool" be ceased.
