In 2008, the US version of Top Gear was shot, and piloted...only to be canned before it was shown.

It's hosts included Adam Carola (sp), and 2 other dudes.

I think it'd be cool to have our own version (although unlikely it'd be anything close to the original).
Now it sounds like it might be back on US TV (as a US made show, and not showing BBC's version).

I love top gear but it's the hosts that really make the show. Lets hope for some good chemistry from the U.S. hosts.

Agreed. They not only have to match the chemistry and give and take that Clarkson, May and Hammond have, but not just stupidly try to mimic it. The worst thing they could do is force it, and overly script the jokes and interaction. And don't give one of them a nickname similar to that of "Captain Slow". It could be something like the US re-make of the Office vs the failed US re-make of Red Dwarf.

why the hell would we want anything but the funny-as-fuck British version on our US television sets?

good point, but it would be neat to see some of the quaint history pieces from the US perspective. Like, making fun of our cities, our cars (in more ways than just "heh, American cars are the sucks".

Um, Clarkson owns a Ford GT.

Um, Clarkson owns a Ford GT.

What's that got to do with the time of day? I'm saying I hope, if the US version goes through, that it's just not the hosts saying "American cars suck" and then do it because it's popular.

Not saying the real TP guys say that or do that. They have substance. that's what I want.

He owns a Ford GT though, you idiot.

Again, what does that have to do with what I'm talking about?

I'm saying I hope the new US hosts don't just dis on US cars because it's an easy target. No where did I mention anything about Clarkson doing that, or what Top Gear does, or what they do or don't own.

I hope that the US version includes references to our cities, and differences between regions, but doesn't just go "US Cars suck".

I don't care if Clarkson owns a Ford GT. I'm not talking about the British hosts of Top Gear.

I was joking, and I laughed because it actually generated more discussion.

I just hope they focus on reviewing cars but that's just me.
