Toronto Raptors Dame trade ideas and rumors

Dame will gain millions going to Miami (taxes) and lose millions going to Toronto (taxes). No way is he going quietly.

Toronto escaped a Mortal Kombat finishing move letting Fred Vanfleet walk. The Raptors have a talented squad with a new head coach. I have doubts they will trade half their team for Lillard.

I don't think they would have any trouble replacing those five except for Barnes.

Dame is going where Cronin tells him to.

Another similar situation was Paul George not going to Los Angeles, but instead that huge market of Oklahoma City, in a trade.
That is about as big of a disparity as there is in the NBA.

There would be much less disparity if Dame ends up in Detroit, which is a big market.

Then let the thing go into training camp. Blazers don't need to win now. Dame and his new team would like to.
That's all well and good but I don't think Dame's value increases much between now and the deadline. I think before training camp one of two things will most likely happen: Miami will offer enough to satisfy Joe and probably none of us or Miami will make a different move and then the field of teams vying for Dame will bid and we will get closer to fair value. There is a third thing that could definitely happen, one team could go rogue and offer way more than Miami and we would take that offer, also Dame would report to that team and try his best.

Nobody buys it. If Dame is traded to Miami, it's 100% Joe Cronin's fault. We know there are several better offers available.
I would be OK with trading with Miami if it
got back a forward such as Tari Eason or Trey Murphy as part of the package.

For me, any deal has to include one starting-level forward or center. That's not asking too much. If Miami doesn't have one, they have to obtain one somehow.

Why do you want a starting level forward when were rebuilding?

I'd want the best combination of assets that can help us contend years from now. The best assets are likely picks, although good young players might help too. I don't see why a starting level player matters; a younger bench player with upside on a good contract is much more valuable than an old overpaid starting veteran. If we get better picks we can take worse players. Worse picks we need better players.

Because "starting level" doesn't necessarily mean "win now."

Who is going to start at small forward next season (at the moment)? Thybulle? Little? Sharpe?

TBpup and I were talking about this last night. Right now I don't think Jaquez or Jovic would even be in our rotation next year, and that's really depressing because this team is going to be really bad.

Curious, how does, "wanting a starting level forward", equate to "an old overpaid starting veteran"? It appears to be your own embellishment.

Can we get Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl from Toronto?
Delayed reaction (I haven't been online much the last couple of days)... but, no.

If, for some reason, the Raptors made a move to get Dame, they'd keep Poetl because they'd want to be a contender right off the bat.

Making a deal similar to The Ringer's recommendation would leave them looking like this:

PG: Dame, Shroeder
SG: Will Barton, Grady Dick
SF: OG, Little
PF: Siakam, Achiuwa
C: Poetle, McDaniels

I'm sure that the Raptors would be loath to move Barnes, but I gotta say, that's the best team in the East and may be capable of winning it all.

For the Blazers? Barnes would be such an amazing fit with Sharpe/Scoot/Ant in the long run, the rest of the haul would be secondary.

what are they?

Boston has shown interest. No way they care to keep Jaylen Brown if they're getting back Dame. They can't afford it and have been holding back from re-signing him for a while now.

And take your pick from any other team mentioned. Miami in terms of assets would be last. You know Philly would be offering Maxey.

last I heard, NO TEAM, other than Miami, has made an offer
