Trade Deadline: February 6, 2025

Is 2030 too far out there? I think that's the first one they have available...
Yeah they could trade that pick or 2031. 2031 is the furthest out that teams can trade their picks until the new league year.

If you're asking is it too far out there to have good value that's a fair question. Maybe we could get a 2030 swap and an unprotected 2031 FRP but I doubt it. Getting their 2031 pick without any protections would give us the opportunity to trade away the less desirable of ours and theres in the future like we did in the Deni trade. There's value in that.

Okay, you guys win, we dump Ayton, Grant, Simons, and Rob Williams. Call up all of our 2-way players. Thybulle's still injured. At every halftime, 30 points down, Scooter and Clingan with 6 fouls. Here's what's left for the 2nd half.

C Reath, Jabari Walker
PF Camara, Murray
SF Avidja, Justin Minaya
SG Sharpe, Rupert, Bryce McGowens
PG Banton, Taze Moore

We are worse than last year's team. No progress. Every game a laugher for our opponent. The future stars learning nothing constructive in this environment.

Wouldn't the Blazers be taking contracts/players back in these trades?

Yeah a 2031 pick. They have a 2028 via Philly

Not sure what players they'd send back. They'd probably try to get us to take PJ Tucker. Maybe we get Derrick Jones Jr back.

Yep. I'm good with getting these picks. Even swaps would be fine, IMO.

Hearing the Clippers are interested in Simons. Cronin going to do them another favor?

Butler suspended indefinitely. Does this help trade season get started sooner?

Interesting. Where did you read that? Do they have anything for us? Future picks when Harden and Leonard are donezo would be great.

Not seeing realistic salaries coming back. They have them but do they want to trade them is the question.

Your rebuttal might be that we don't have a SGA and maybe you're right but I think Shaedon could have a really great second half to this season if he isn't hindered by the presence of two vets who he has deferred to his whole career. One thing is for sure though, the way the Thunder built what they have right now disproves what you are trying to say in the post I'm responding to. We should get all of our young talent as many reps as possible, players do learn and get better while losing and getting the best picks possible in the draft is the best and maybe only way to rebuild in a small market.

No, my rebuttal would be that we don't have a quality coach like the Thunder do, so there is no long-term improvement.

There's no point responding to jlprk. He's not a real poster. He's a troll. He has always been a troll. His posts are boring and I usually just skip over them entirely.

You have 92,000 posts? That's the first one I ever noticed.

I thought it would be interesting to list who our players would be in the 2nd half of a game, with Scooter and Clingan in their usual foul trouble. Seemed interesting to me. Sorry to bore you. I'll try to stand out from the crowd, and make my opinions more outlandish, to please you.

I'd keep PJ for the vet presence and would think we could at least get 2nds for DJJ.

I don't know that PJ would want to stay.

I think Reath is worthy on his own of a couple assets, I’d want at least a few seconds in this

Idk

Blazers have been putting on the fillers out on him for a bit. If there was anything good, he'd probably would have been traded.

Maybe can get a couple seconds out of him.

Mann is expiring? I thought he signed a 3-year extension a few months back. I like him but I think the Clippers do too.
Yeah he's under contract for this season and the next three after because of an extension he signed.

I don't think Reath will fetch anything more than a fake second. The only reason there is buzz is because his salary is so low that any team could basically trade for him and only offer a top 55 protected 2nd. Basically how we acquired Banton. If he's not included in another deal I would be surprised if he fetched more than that.

I really don't know why people are so concerned about Ayton. He has one year left. I don't care about him. If he becomes a locker room problem, cut him. We already won the trade because of Toumani.

I'm more concerned about getting some value for Simons and Grant.
Ant is less of an issue than Ayton since his contract expires the same time but is cheaper.

I'm less concerned with value from any of these irrelevant vets - and most worried we'll be stuck with paying Grant until 2028.

I can't see why any team would want to pay a declining 30+ year old PF $160 million who's shooting 38% on 2pt and pulling down 3 rpg.

All the Cronin fanboys here seem to think he still has positive trade value. Hope I'm wrong, we'll see.

Just curious. Are you genuinely happy with what is happening in this "rebuild" and our supposed direction?

We have our top three draft picks in Scoot/Shae/Clingan that we tanked hard for sitting behind guys who apparently have little or no trade value while looking down the barrel at year 4 of tank city.
You left our the worst part - were sitting in the back half of the lottery with an epically strong draft after getting 3rd for an epically weak draft. We can't even tank properly.

Yeah he looked good last year but has been irrelevant this season.

It's funny that if we tried to flip Ant for Norm we'd have to include FRP(s)

Heard for so long from the Cronin lovers how the Blazers had to dump Norm so the Blazers would then be able to use all that salary room for better players.

We used all that salary space on GP2, Ant, Nurk, Ayton, Grant, Thybulle

Literally every single one of them is worse than Norm.

Meanwhile Eric Bledsoe and Didi are STILL on our salary cap this season.

Who exactly are the Cronin lovers?

I haven't seen anyone make that claim. The theory was that he was told to get the team under the luxury tax. Nobody that I know of thinks that salary cap space is ever really a benefit for us.
