I think Joe and Chauncey like this team, they are not going to give players away, they will wait till off season.

Cronin will turn all his doubters into his fans within the next two weeks
Doubters about what? He has built a really good team that the young guys are catching up to, and it's beginning to take form. I absolutely appreciate Joe Cronin, and the basketball operations team built around him. They have 3 solid guards, 3 solid wings and 3 solid centers with a few interesting prospects in development. A nice mix of youth and vets.

Jerami Grant is officially shooting better from 3 this season than overall 38.2 to 38.1. Does anyone really want this?

Do you mean does any other team want this? He played 16 minutes last night compared to 40 for Camara and 38 for Deni.
Clearly, he is the odd man out.

you may be on to something. I think they believe they have enough to compete without a full tank. Not sure I agree but Chauncey has them playing respectably these last several games. The problem is how to win 7 game series.

Blazers are 9 games under .500 and 10th seed is 2 games over. So if we go on an 11 game winning streak we'll be somewhere close to tied.

So first is improving to actually competing for the playin, then actually make it out of the playin and into the playoffs. We're a long way from having any concern of a 7 game series.

I want to hear more from you, optimist. I like you

Thanks, I missed that. That will keep him out for the year unless traded. Similar to Thybulle
One could hope and pray JG is done putting on a blazers jersey. That would be almost on point with winning the number one pick this yr

a "really good team"....probably just me but I think a really good team would be winning at least 60% of their games on the season instead of 38%

3 weeks ago the Blazers were 5 games out of 10th seed & the play-in. They have just won 5 of their last 6 games, but they are now 6.5 games out of 10th seed and the play-in. Sure, it does look like Portland has jelled a bit and leveled-up. But they are still losing ground to the better teams in the West and in the league

somehow, some way, the Blazers have magically landed in the spot where they are 6.5 games out of the play-in and 6.5 games from the best lottery odds. Celebration time!!

Yeah I just don't see superstar potential in any of these players except maybe Shaedon and Shaedon is the only one of our young players that his obviously holding himself back which doesn't bode well for him taking over the league. That doesn't mean none of the rest of the guys will make an all star game or two, it means none of them have what is needed to win an MVP and be a perennial all nba player. We need to strike gold in this draft, that means we need to start losing and not winning at all.

Anyone happy with this roster as constructed either doesn't understand what a good roster looks like or is kidding themselves. Yeah a team who after 47 games only has 18 wins and is on a heater (5-1 over their last 6) isn't a future contender as is. We will either come back to our mean and play .333 ball or we will do the smart thing, dump the vets for whatever combo of draft capitol, prospects and salary filler we can and lose almost every game the rest of the season to increase our likelihood of drafting the player we want and need from this year's draft.

So they are playing much better and are still going to be in the lottery? That was my goal at the beginning of the year. "...............come on"

My goal was to see individual growth and have the best chance of landing Cooper Flagg, that has changed to either Flagg or Bailey but still pretty much the same goal and Joe isn't executing it. I also as I've said ad nauseum that we need to move Ant and Jerami as soon as possible and maybe that gets done in the next week but I'm not holding my breath.

Being in the lottery can either mean great things for a rebuild or doing shit like Sacrament did for over a decade. If you're just in the middle or late lottery, you're really fucking up and hoping to get way luckier than odds would dictate. So yeah, I share in your "wut?".

I know I'll be excited to read the defenses of Cronin if he doesn't make any moves.
Like how they've have reached a competitive level in the second year of a rebuild, and are playing great basketball? Is this considered a defense? That he gave Chauncey the time needed to develop as a coach, and is beginning to develop a defensive team mindset? What's not to like? We have a couple players on big contracts who've been surpassed by younger cheaper players? Good problem to have.

To me this is year 4 of a rebuild and Chauncey seems to have learned how to coach a bit but he still doesn't have an impressive playbook in my view or an endgame plan usually. I think he'd be an incredible defensive coordinator for the team but not sure he's a great head coach. Ironically I think he and Stotts would have been a great coaching team together.

Yuck. Like the pick, but not with 4 years of Isaac.

Do we really want Isaac on a salary for the next 4 years? That dude sucks.
He's fantastic defensively, and would be a good backup for Clingan. His remaining 4 years are a combined 59M. For what he can provide (if healthy), that's damn good value.
