one pick is the 2025 Charlotte pick which will not convey since it's lottery protected and then goes to 2 seconds

the 2nd pick is the 2027 Spurs first which will likely be in the 20's

the last is the 2031 Minny 1st so who knows how good that will be

Zach Collins had nearly disappeared from the Spurs before the trade; he's averaging less than 5 points and 3 rebounds in less than 12 minutes
Hey, I'm just saying teams are moving FRPs when I hope for a FRP in return for Rob and maybe some seconds from us, I'm not planning on it being an unprotected pick likely to be in the top 5.

I don't even know if we'll get in on all of the action. I hope we do but this might be Cronin's ideal roster... it wouldn't be mine but maybe it's Joe's.

Are those going all going from the Spurs to the Kings?

Spurs Receive: De'Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin

Kings Receive: Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks (2025 CHA, 2027 SAS, 2031 MIN), three second-round picks (2025 CHI, 2028 DEN, 2028 own back)

Bulls Receive: Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick via SAS]

So all of those picks are coming from the Spurs. In theory they gave up the players they sent out and 4 FRPs. Obviously the Charlotte pick won't convey so that's more like two future seconds but still for the purposes of this deal they gave up 4 first round picks.

In two days we have seen two GM's in Dallas and the Kings make WTF type trades so I am begging Cronin to please not add your name to this list by doing something stupid. I am not joking the Kings got fleeced and the Mavs did a stupid gamble but at least they got a top 10 to 15 ish type player back even if it was a stupid trade. After seeing the past two days as much as I would like to see one of the vets go to free up some time I am afraid of Cronin repeating a Clippers type trade so I am starting to rethink trading at this time -- maybe.

i think grant is straight untradeable.

trying to go through rosters of who might want/need him, list is short. then you consider his contract, i think it's impossible.

we better not attach any assets to move him. moving Ant/Ayton is more paramount.

Sacramento already traded away (mid-season 2022) a point guard (Haliburton) who, a little over 2 years later, played the most minutes (regular season) on a team that made the Conference Finals (Indiana).

Did Sacramento just do the same thing? It's not hard to see Fox playing the most minutes (as he did for Sacramento) on a team with Wemby making the Conference Finals.

What an organization that is.

They utterly botch a bunch of top 10 picks (we're going to need a list for this)

2011 #7 Bismack Biyombo, (8 Brandon Knight, 9 Kemba Walker 11 Klay Thompson 15 Kawhi Leonard and more)
2012 #5 Thomas Robinson, (6 Damian Lillard, 7 Harrison Barnes 9 Andre Drummond)
2013 #7 Ben McLemore, (8 KCP, 10 CJ McCollum, 12 Steven Adams, 15 Giannis)
2014 #8 Nik Stauskas, (13 Zach Lavine)
2015 #6 Willie Cauley Stein (13 Devin Booker)
2016 #8 Marquese Chriss, traded for Georgios Papagiannis and Skal Labissière (11 Domantas Sabonis)
2018 #2 Marvin Bagley (3 Luka Doncic, 4 Jaren Jackson Jr., 5 Trae Young) YIKES!

Then when they make a fantastic pick in 2020 (12th pick Haliburton) he gets traded for a guy they could have drafted in 2016 (sabonis) so they can give the Keys once and for all to ...

De'Aaron Fox.

I think Grant is more paramount than Ant or Ayton

We might not be trading anyone

You never know. After OKC played in 2012 Finals, I thought they’d be making more trips there and now it’s 2025 and still haven’t returned. Back in 2020, Suns looked to have bright future and now they suck only 5 years later. And then there’s Dallas of course. Teams fuck it up all the time.

Yep, we say the same things about quite a few teams and it never materialized: Jazz (a couple of times) Pelicans, 76ers, Minnesota, Orlando, Nets.....

How do people think that was a bad trade for the Kings? Fox made it clear he wanted to leave. Lavine, 3 1st round picks and 3 2nds is a good trade for a team still trying to make the playoffs. See how the rest of the year goes and pivot from there.

on deeper eval....

2025 top 14 protected from CHA --> becomes 2 future seconds
2027 unprotected from SAS
2031 unprotected from MIN

not great. that 2031 pick might be something.
Kings should have asked for the Atlanta pick instead.

Is Lavine what that Kings needed, at $43 - 49 million over the next 3 seasons? (assuming he picks up his option in 2026-27) ?

Fox was another Sac Town tank player. They've had a few over the years and I don's think any are still on the team?

I can’t believe the Spurs were able to get Fox without trading a single one of their young talented players.

Who knows. Lavine is an all star player. They also have Sabonis. They also have an aging Derozan. And now they have more picks.

See how the season goes and they have many options. If they like what they see, they can package their picks to get an upgrade somewhere.

We almost caught up to SA in the win total. This trade should at least help us stay behind them.

Edit: Unfortunately Chicago will probably slide

All about the contracts …
Grant can be traded this summer … with his longer contract sooner is better.
By February, 2026, Ayton has to be gone as he’s UFA that summer.
So is Ant. And Time Lord. And Thybulle is a p-opt after this season and a UFA a season after that.

Trades in February 2026 mean having less trade leverage then little to none afterwards.
And few people (???) on this board want them all back next season.

4 more days and we have some answers.
Cronin is on the clock.

To me the one guy that has to go has got to be Ant. I want Sharpe and Scoot to be starters. Grant can move to the bench if he doesn’t get traded and Ayton is still legit starting center in this league at young age. Clingan isn’t ready to start and play starter minutes

Likelihood of a trade imo…

1. RW3
2. Thybulle
3. Reath
4. Ant
5. Grant

6. Ayton

Agreed

I am going to lay off Cronin until the end of this offseason cause after thinking about it more while up to the Dame trade has been like a C minus to a Solid C ---- Since the Dame trade I think his grade is like a Solid B. I will admit my opinion of Cronin comes from my belief on how he handled the whole Dame drama thing and not looking to rehash that just saying where my bias on Cronin is coming from. However and I know some are like were winning so why all this talk of we have to trade Ant , Grant and Ayton.

Well the simple truth is none of these players really fit this team for the future and at least 2 of them are holding young players back from getting more playing time maybe 3. I like seeing the Blazers win as much as the next fan but right now winning is hurting the future of this team specially if the threee mentioned are the main cause for the wins. The ball is in Cronin's court and I for one am hoping at least one of the vets are gone by the end of the deadline and if not then Grant , Ant and maybe Ayton need there minutes trimmed and other things to make sure Scoot , Sharpe and DC get a couple more minutes a game so we can see if they have what it takes to lead this team into a new era of winning basketball and if we are lucky bring a championship back to the rose city.
