In a vacuum and on pure trade value sure, but in the context of where Brooklyn is, I don't think it's crazy for them to decline. If Bridges was on a team that had control of their draft picks it would be different.

I wonder if there could be an element that Brooklyn thinks they could bundle all their future picks (mostly from Phoenix) and get Dame from us? Might make them hesitant to trade Bridges away now.

The Blazers have the advantage as you note that if they trade Dame away and lose more it improves all of their own draft picks value.

It's a very odd situation to have two teams straddling the win now vs rebuild line and both looking at acquiring the others star.

Yeah, Brooklyn and Portland are playing two sides of the same coin.

Saw this as well and while I don't love it, I think it has legs.

Ant + 11 for OG after or something. Draft at 6 or trade that too.

Would increase the streak of my avatar becoming a Blazer one year after changing. I'd change it to Giannis next....

Adding WDC and OG would be the most Olshey move that Cronin could make. Just enough firepower to get back to the 5th or 6th seed while wasting a top 3 pick. So exciting.

Can't see Toronto trading OG. He is a great guy to have next to Scotty Barnes.

If Toronto is moving anyone this off-season it is either Pascal or FVV, or both.

Some of these tweets make the plan sound like its to be one of the better mediocre teams instead of one of the worse mediocre teams like we used to be. Very exciting stuff.

To be 100% honest, I don't think they're trading anyone. I think Ant for OG is fair value in itself, but Masai has a "Olshey with CJ" kind of love for his players, so they're most likely going to re-sign Poeltl and run it back.

Dame shouldn't have said publicly that he don't want the Blazers to draft another 19 year old or he's out. In hindsight that comment was extremely dumb. It has put the Blazers in a very difficult situation and all executives around the league know they have to trade the Pick to keep him in Portland. Dame should have said it to Cronin behind closed doors but not publicly

Really hurt Brooklyn's take for Durant, who said he wanted out in the summer. Brooklyn did get a haul. Yes it's Durant, but he's also oft injured. I really don't think that stuff means jack when it comes right down to it. If two, or three teams want to get something done, it will get done.

disagree, that's very different to the KD situation in Brooklyn. KD wanted out, the Blazers now might have to overpay for a Wing like Bridges to keep Dame here and they know that.

Brandon Ingram is a name not many are talking about does he blow any skirts up? I imagine DeMar DeRozan is too old?

They will have to sooner or later (a couple of years or so). Their salary projection pretty much requires it. Scotty Barnes will need to be signed (the future of the franchise), they need to make a decision on Pascal's extension, FVV is expiring, GT3 etc... - they had an "ok" season this year - but was it good enough to go on with the expected raises they have to make to resign all these guys or extend them given the bigger penalties that the upcoming CBA will have on bigger spenders?

I am not sure this team is worth a lot of money to unless Scotty Barnes proves that he can be a franchise super-star. Pascal is a great #2, but he is currently and have been their #1 player since KL left - and it went nowhere really.

Is it going to be this year or next one, I don't know, but trading with the Blazers for a high pick might the best way to maximize Pascal as far as they are looking at it.

This actually feels like the right time to rebuild to me. We keep the pick, draft miller or scoot, move dame ant nurk, build around pick n Sharpe. I look at Memphis, okc, Orlando etc and we need to push the button too.

Yes - you need to aim much higher than Grant/OG type players.

While I feel like Miller is a better fit for our team due to his size and position, my gut tells me Scoot has the “it” factor. I definitely see a killer instinct with Scoot.

Dame said he wanted roster moves for the team to contend at the Olympics three years ago and we've done nothing to win since - actively tanking twice. I don't think Dame's desires are set in stone or ultimatums as you are implying.

Plus even if they are; well fine then deal with that problem when its here. Dame wanting out isn't something the team should start doing suboptimal moves for just to avoid.
The Olympics were less than 2 years ago but yes, you’re right. Dame wants to stay. As long as we want him, he has said over and over, he wants to stay. He also says he wants to win which is a good thing.

I actually think Amen Thompson is a better choice than Williams and a better fit

Yeah Dame should be compared to someone like Reggie Miller. It was great those Pacers surrounded him with talent at both the middle and end of his career. But they didn't mortgage a bunch of unprotected picks for it. They actually went the other direction and traded a starting big in the finals for a green young player, which ultimately paid off very well.
Did it? It’s not like JO got them to the Finals. Just one ECF. Same as CJ got us. But you’re right that we should put youth next to Dame.

well, we have the easiest decision to make (if we keep the Pick). If the Hornets take Miller, we take Scoot. If the Hornets take Scoot, we take Miller. We can sit back and relax actually just like the Sonics in 2007 with Oden/Durant.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but how about a retool while keeping the 3rd pick? A crazy retool for me would be a risky move but we are Portland so risk is basically our only chance.

Trade:

Ingram
Zion

For

Lillard
Little

Money works.

Use #3 for Scoot if there or trade up to #2 for him. Trade Ant and Nurk for a good defensive center and bench.

PG - Scoot - Mays
SG - Sharpe - Thybulle
SF - Ingram - Zion (Maybe 6th man role helps)
PF - Grant - Watford - Walker
C - Defensive C - Eubanks

Championship? No. Entertaining? Yep.

Pacers were in a lot of deep playoff runs. They went young and took Jermaine over mediocre vets such as Dale Davis. They got young Jackson and Artest and Brad Miller, who gave them chances to contend.

It's an example of going young but with a single old franchise cornerstone vet and still contending. Blazers don't have have to give up on their youth to contend with Dame. In fact, hitting on youth might be the best way to contend with Dame.

It's a much better more realistic blueprint than Lebron Kobe Steph Durant teams. Dame just isn't on those guys level.
Are you talking about the Durant who has had HOF teammates yet has only won 2 playoff series in the last 4 years??
