so, last season Dame wanted the pick traded but Portland could find an equitable trade so they kept the pick, used it, and Dame became ok with it...and maybe wasn't as opposed, at the time, as suggested in that interview
in other words, Dame's perspective can evolve according to situation
Yay or nay?
Whats more rare? Finding the needle in the haystack, or an actual good trade by some random person on twitter?
Because they all fucking suck.
I think it’s very likely that Joe knows he can’t make the moves that will make Dame happy, and he is just trying to put him off until the right time to trade him.
Yeah, if I could get Carter, 6 and 11, for 3 and Nurk I'd feel good about getting Brown or Bridges for Ant, 6 and 11 not to mention 23. How could those teams turn that down, especially if Dame has those dudes asking to get traded here.Carter 6 and 11
I don't know about "very likely" but this is the other side of the coin. I think Joe is either working really hard right now or pretending to work hard to get the best veteran, all star returns for our draft capital in this draft and the future. I think that the side of the coin that you're looking at is that Joe doesn't think he can get fair value for all of the draft capital we have and will tell Dame that, draft who he wants with Shae and trade Dame and anyone else that doesn't fit his vision for a future that doesn't start contending for at least three or four years. As far as keeping his job, this might be the smartest way to go but it isn't the most competitive path that Joe could choose. Again, we wait and see.I think it’s very likely that Joe knows he can’t make the moves that will make Dame happy, and he is just trying to put him off until the right time to trade him.
Is this a team that can make noise in the playoffs?
Dame
Sharpe
Bridges
Grant
Claxton
Would need to absolutely go in on the right MLE FA and the 23rd pick contributes somewhat, and think we'd be decent.
Thats not really possible. We would need Nurk's contract to add up to the 55 mil that OG AND Pascal make.Which team is better?
Dame
OG
Grant
Siakam
Nurk
Sharpe - sixth man
Send them Nurk, they give us Poeltl to compensate. Not sure that adds up eitherThats not really possible. We would need Nurk's contract to add up to the 55 mil that OG AND Pascal make.
Poeltl is a FA so nope unfortunately.Send them Nurk, they give us Poeltl to compensate. Not sure that adds up either
The first team…..easilyWhich team is better?

I proposed 3 + 23+ Ant + Nurk for OG and Pascal earlier this week.
We'd have to land a usable C in the FA for our MLE but Id roll with Pascal as small ball center tbh.
OG/Grant/Siakam is a super switchy lineup. Just go zone all the time
One issue here is Sharpe. I'm a huge Sharpe fan, but he's still 19. Unlikely hes even as good as Ant next year. Now 5 years out I love his upside. But if your talking about only next season, and a team trying to contend, he's the weak link of that lineup. Really need another guard, Hart would've been perfect as a gatekeeping starter or great backup. Is this a team that can make noise in the playoffs?

from everything both Dame and Cronin have said I don't think that's likely at all, at least not the part about putting him off. It sure sounds like Cronin communicates with Dame constantly. In fact, that level of communication my be something that will make Dame more reluctant to ask out
now, it could very well be that there no good trade will materialize around the draft; at least none that makes sense and doesn't have Portland significantly overpaying. But I've seen enough of Dame to believe that he'd recognize a lop-sided trade where Portland is getting screwed and be OK with the Blazers turning it down
if Dame does ask out, my hunch is it won't come at the end of June or the middle of July as many in the trade-Dame-now camp are hoping. I think he wants to stay in Portland badly enough that he would give the Blazers the rest of the off-season and till next season's trade deadline. More big trades happen around then anyway
He's not my favorite option either, but, he's probably the most attainable out of all the pie-in-the-sky options we've been presentedI don’t get the OG love, dude has missed 88 games the past 3 seasons. No thanks.
The thing is, is OG or even Siakam for #3 + change "Portland getting screwed"?
Some might say yes.
Some might say no.
But it's obviously the right move if you want to win now.
Something that our GM admitted in his postseason presser, saying "We're going to have to take a risk and not worry about what the player we could've drafted ends up as" or something like that.
In my opinion, to move the #3 pick, it's gotta be a clear winner. If it's an "eh" or "meh". we technically aren't getting screwed, but I'd say we are.
And that's what I worry about with Dame. If there is a "toss up" trade, how's he gonna feel?
I'm leaning towards not good.

That would be so dumb. If you have the possibility to draft Scoot, you go for it no matter what and figure out the rest laterJust a couple of thoughts;
So much talk of Dame and Cronin talking all of the time, presumably about potential trades. Is Cronin talking to Dame about the offers he is getting FOR Dame? Would be interesting.
Personally, I do not think Portland will draft Scoot if he is there at 3 AND they plan for Dame staying in Portland. I believe they can easily trade down with Houston or Orlando for their pick(s) and additional capital and do quite well.
