Trading our #3 pick plus a starter for a player who ends up leaving us high and dry after one season would be one of the biggest kicks in the balls I've experienced as a Blazers fan.
And why would Joe do that deal without assurances said player can be re-signed to a new deal. He's not stupid. And Dame would not want that either.

Nothing more.

I don't necessarily agree. I think a 2nd or two could be added. I'd even say another first could be with some protections. The problem is to send another first, if it isn't the 23rd pick, the Blazers would have to add another first after also sending the 23rd pick to Chicago to free up the other first. So, in the seemingly never-ending olshey-fucks-the-blazers saga, they are kind of stuck in a bind. Portland could make the trade immediately after the draft, then they could send the 2030 1st. That's a bit risky though without any protections

The #3 pick for a 26 year old 2nd Team All-NBA player would be buying low.

Typically those guys are nearly unobtainable.
hasn't Brown had an ongoing issue with one of his knees? Typically, knee issues don't just go away. Typically they get worse until a player retires

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Siakam, on a new deal, or Bridges.

I was listening to one talk show today that suggested that Van Vleet will end up in Phoenix in FA and not Chris Paul.
Regardless if that is true, if he and Trent don't return to Toronto maybe they become a little more reasonable in a deal. Both Ant and #3 could help.

Technically I don't believe he can extend if traded to Portland, right?

Perhaps you just mean a Jermai Grant situation, where he will hit free agency but we're extremely confident he will resign.

Bobby Marks said Brown could get 5 year $295 million from Boston but only 5 year $250 million if he signs or is traded to another team.
If you're talking about extension right after the trade, I'm not sure. That's the weakspot of my CBA knowledge. But if he wants to come here I wouldn't worry about him leaving.

How would Phoenix get the money to sign him?

What about Amen? They say even if he never improves his shooting he’s still going to be a huge threat attacking the hoop with athleticism we haven’t seen before.
I really miss someone pushing the ball up the court. Simons and Lillard aren’t going to do it. Hart did it. Watford does it, but he’s never going to be a starter.

Plus, at least right now, the Blazers have plenty of outside shooters for him to pass to. And he’s a very good passer. I think it would be murder on defenses. And Sharpe would reach his potential as a full-court and lob threat.
I love Amen. I have him higher on my board than Miller simply because I think he has higher upside. I think he could be Morant-level in terms of rim pressure. Assistant he has a great with ethic. If he develops an average jumper he's a guaranteed star in my opinion.

Ant + 23 + 3 seconds for OG.

Then after July 1 and waiting the required time to count the pick's salary:

Nurk + Nas + #3 (Scoot) for KAT.

Dame
Sharpe
OG
Grant
KAT
We need dudes that compete. Guys with an edge. KATs not that guy. I don't trust him to contribute to a playoff run at a level that would justify giving up the assets it would require to get him.

KAT is a lot of things, but a guy who competes is not one of them.

friendly reminder, that we were one of the worst teams this year after the first 10 games and we had once again one of the worst defenses in the league. We are not one "trade #3 for a All Star level type player" away from contention, we are four steps away. We trade #3 for Brown or Siakam or whatever, then what? Instead of let's say 40 wins, we win 44 games, does that really make that much difference? Please i want to know what does step 2, 3 and 4 look like after we trade the pick? that we can say in October, yes the Blazers are definitely a Contender

Personally I think both are better players than Brown.

I know Brown is 2x all NBA, but I still think Siakam & Bridges are better

from everything that's out there, Masai Ujiri may be impossible to work with. HoopsJocks has said he's heard that the Blazer front office won't deal with him anymore. That probably means Siakam is not within realistic reach. Bridges seems pretty locked down in Brooklyn

Would anyone fancy Lauri Markkanen in a trade for the #3?

I saw that Utah fan piece suggesting a trade of Ant and 3 for Markkanen and filler. It’s an interesting thought. Play him at PF and slide Grant to 3 in a big lineup of Dame, Sharpe, Grant, Lauri, and Nurk. Go small with Dame, Thybulle, Sharpe, Grant and Lauri. Seems like there will be better deals out there though.

Congratulations, you found a way to make the Blazers defense worse than last year.
