Sane? No. But fake trades are fun, so...
Chicago gets 2 young prospects in Suggs and Little. Gets their lotto pick back. Get an alternative for Vucevic. Probably they'd wanna keep Williams. I got a little greedy. :)
Orlando moves up to 3 AND lands Simons, my thinking is Simons for 11. 6, CG, Suggs for 3. Maybe they throw Chicago the '25 Denver pick?
For us
Lillard/Sharpe/DDR/Grant/WCJ
with Caruso, Thybulle, Williams, and 6 off the bench.

that's actually an interesting trade. I'm guessing that the Blazers also get all their 1st's back?

you should take that to the RealGM trade board and see what kind of reactions you get. I'm sure it would be mostly negative because for once the Blazers aren't getting screwed out of value by other teams

Yeah, I'm not seeing the incentive for Chicago on this.

This would definitely get us back into the playoff picture. It's really hard to gauge a ceiling on that team. Probably because I'm not sure how ready Sharpe is to be a starter on a playoff team.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the incentive for Chicago on this.

the two problems are Patrick Williams going out, and Nurkic coming in. They already have Vucevic. Trick would be finding the 4th team to ship Nurk too...unless Orlando wanted him to replace Carter

Bulls do get the 11th and 23rd picks and that's not pocket change

Honestly if I were to predict the top 3 things that happen by the end of the draft / before start of new league year these are my predictions :

1) Trade #3 and Vet for Star for Dame
2) Trade Ant and 23 for Semi Star / role players and future assets
3) Nurk Traded for assets / Role players

All I know is I feel like a curve ball is coming something we have not even come close to predicting and not a MEGA Star like Giannis or Joel but someone not really talked about as a future Blazer either. Also if this happens it kind of scares me more cause not sure I trust Cronin to do something this bold but i guess we shall see.

In exchange for DDR, it's a relatively paltry sum. But yeah, you nailed my concerns--Nurk particularly.

I think the problem with this thinking is there is a pretty well-defined group of players we'd want/need/look at... There's untouchables, there's guys that don't fit because of positionality, traits, or age, contract, and then there's the "just right" group... I could see it being a less-considered guy like Ingram, perhaps, but we know:
  • It won't be a PG
  • It very likely won't be a 2, or at least anything averagely-to-undersized scoring guard
  • It almost HAS to be a wing or big who:
    • rebounds fairly well
    • is a known commodity, especially to Dame
    • fits our tradeable cap #s
    • based on the value of the 3, isn't on their last few miles...
There's just not that many guys out there who fit that description. I don't think a vet trade for the 3 will catch us completely by surprise.

Since we're Portland it'll probably be #3.

I just had a realization last night.

In 2005, we had the #3 pick in the draft. There were two point guard prospects projected in our range and everyone and anyone wanted to poke holes in their games or character. Two hours before the draft, John Nash and Steve Patterson decided to trade #3 to Utah for #6, #27, and a future first.

Let's not repeat history.

Drafts are a crapshoot anyway, so if the same exact thing happened this year there's still a chance it will work out. It wouldn't just automatically fail because you repeated something from 18 years ago. Lol. Drafting is just educated guesses. It's not linear, thus doing this same thing twice with a huge variance doesn't mean the history will repeated.

It at least works for this example. History repeating itself in other ways and means, yes, that's a very real thing lol. But in this very limited example, it's different.

ALLLL that being said, I'd hate if we did that so I agree.

Would Charlotte prefer Ingram over Miller?

Actually, could we just get Trey Murphy? Maybe Charlotte would want Murphy since he plays like Brandon Miller of all things.

Murphy

For #2 or #3. I think it could be interesting for Charlotte or Portland. Maybe Portland wants Herb Jones?

Would you if you were the Pelicans? He is their best player. They seem to like Ingram and they seem to be frustrated with Zion.
So I could see them unloading that big contract and trading Zion to Charlotte.

The two point guard prospects were also far superior prospects (and more proven) than Martell Webster.

One could argue that the bolded statement applies to Brandon Miller this year.

Clear talent. Clear production. Everyone trying to poke holes in his game/character.

I really don't see people trying to poke holes in Scoot's game or character.

Are Scoot / Miller this years Deron / CP3?

We shall see.

If anything, this is a great argument for not trading back.

Zion would be one helluva swing to take...

I would have NO faith in it working out...

But that's a swing possibly worth taking, unlike Deandre Ayton...

No thanks -- I do not want Cronin talking to the NO GM since that GM has already fleeced ( maybe not but kind of ) the Blazers one time on the CJ deal let's not give them another win via Cronin being a complete idiot.

Okay I'm going to get flak for this but:

Then Nurkic/14 to Indiana for Turner. Or Simons/Nurkic for Ayton. Just use whatever leftover assets you have to upgrade the center position and the bench.

Lillard/Simons?
Sharpe/Thybulle
Murphy/Little
Grant/Winslow
Turner or Ayton/Eubanks

Ayton at 30M is a terrible contract, but it's viable when you get a starting calibre wing with 2 years left on their rookie contract. Can also replace Murphy for Herb Jones, who is a better defender but much worse offensively and is up for a contract next year.
