gotta walk on eggshells to have any type of real talk anymore. Part of why I think communication is devolving.

With that said, if someone asks to not be called something, it is incredibly selfish and rude to continue to do so.

Agreed. Yang has a very good skillset and needs to get stronger. Beringer's only obvious talent is shot blocking. Of the two, Yang's weaknesses, no pun intended, will be a lot easier to address. I can see Beringer making the occasional wow play, but Yang's assets makes him more set up for a longer, more impactful career.
Also, Yang has very good footwork and crazy good hands. His ball handling, as well as passing, really stood out in all his tape.
 
You have to admit that was an off the charts bad draft from the way the lotto went down to last night pretty much couldn’t get much worse for the Bkazers.

Watching Dallas trade Luka then making the playin and losing only to get the number one pick and San Antonio getting the second pick with the Blazers dropping from 8 to 11 then drafting a guy most feel would have been available in the second round with our traded for first round pick.

Hmmmm. Sounds pretty bad to me.

This all after three years of tanking.

Oh i gotcha. Not what we did last night, but the process overall.
This is why I'm so against tanking. We could have had the worst record last year and we still weren't getting the top pick.
People upset we didn't drop more games put waayyyy too much value in a couple of percentage points of change in our chances.

Sure would have been nice to lose that last game vs the Spurs though.
 
He uses both hands well to shoot in the paint. He also has an effective hook shot...if you can call it that. Whatever it is, it works.

I've always thought the BPA argument was hollow boiler-plate bullshit. No team intentionally drafts the 4th best player available. BPA is so subjective it's devolved to meaningless deflection. Every draft bust was drafted as BPA. The judgement was just bad

and yes, I know that every once in a while a team might draft for need, but I'd estimate that most of those times they still think their choice is BPA

Plus, nobody would ever know any better if they didn't actually have Yang as the bpa. Bpa is whatever the FO says at a press conference. He could have been behind a few guys on their board, but those higher ranked guys were low ceiling at positions of strength.

Yeah the Blazers were 13-28 in mid January. Blazer fans all had dreams of Flagg or a consolation prizes of the other top prospects like Ace Bailey who eventually went 5th.

There's not a single of the most glass half full Blazer fans that would've said ending up with Hansen Yang is a success.

Lots of legitimate reasons to question the pick of course, but I also admit that I'm not a huge Sam Vecenie guy. While I don't doubt the time he invests, he comes across as a bit of a know-it-all in his delivery. And frankly, his track record isn't all that impressive honestly... heck, I am still waiting for Scoot to turn into that Derrick Rose+ generational point guard he promised.

Vecenie has always felt a bit like that analyst that everyone thinks is great because he likes to throw obscure details and quasi-medical biomechanics into his analysis that makes his approach seem more "scientific." Now, he certainly could be right here (and frankly, he would be betting the odds for 16th picks more generally in slamming the pick), but I don't put a lot of extra stock into his take.

And don't get me started on Hollinger...

So I have seen it posited on the internet that all of Minny, BKN and ATL were gonna take him. Were they all juking PDX so much that PDX wasted a pick on a second round talent? These guys are stating unequivocally that PDX was the only team in on Yang as a first rounder and that he may not ever have NBA talent. Now I understand that these other clubs will not say "hell yeah, we were gonna take him but the Blazers chumped us." I too am not keen on either of these talking heads. What gives?
 
Ryan absolutely LOVED the pick! Said he’s all in. Saw Yang play at the combines and was impressed!
