I'm not kidding you. Do you think Yang has a comparible Q-Score as Yao Ming, who was easily the #1 pick in the 2002 draft?

If the Blazers were drafting Cooper Flaggshu #1 tonight, this would be a worthy conversation.

Lol

It remains to be seen how he fares, but I’ve been on this “Trust in Schmitz” train for awhile. I’ll say, getting an extra 1st in 2028 is what is huge to me.

That’s two 1sts in back to back years between ‘28-‘29.

Agreed. Especially if this kid turns out to be the best player available outside the top 10.

You all realize he will be an All Star within 5 years if he is even just solid ... the China vote might push him in alone so solid chance the Blazers have an All Star so maybe Cronin is not a complete idiot ... then I woke up from my fever dream and realize Cronin is even dumber then I thought - he did the impossible did not think that was possible to think he was more stupid but he did it.

Also if the Blazers get a new sponsor ( China Biz ) worth a lot then we know who really made this pick -- Bert FUCKING Kolde so more money would be brought in. -- this might be a crazy thought but it might make more sense then any other reason to this point.
This didn’t happen with Yi Jianlian. It didn’t even happen with Jeremy Lyn when he was on top of the world. Yao was a superstar.

Live from Brooklyn one incredible observation. The Chinese journalist delegation is MASSIVE. They were like 40 medias him for his national media availability.

In comparison I was alone for my guy Yanic that got drafted by the Clippers @30. 1 vs 40 when comparing Switzerland vs China, we still win by a wide margin. But it was impressive to see all these journalists here only because of him.

We need the best assets possible. Position doesn't matter.

If they think this guy is going to be more a more valuable NBA player than anybody else on board then you take him and you don't worry about what any other player thinks.
I don't disagree. I don't think this dude was bpa though.

Actually, there are owners all over the league talking to themselves about how Jody just raised the value of the franchise by billions, maybe TRILLIONS.

Yeah maybe that one will turn out to be a really good pick in one of the best drafts in years like #11 or something that would be awesome

Is it Hansen Yang or Yang Hansen I’ve seen both.

If our answer to Wemby and Chet is fucking Yang Hansen we should switch places with the Portland Fire

The thing is - he could turn out to be good and your ranting will look pretty funny. Maybe give it a chance? Because, why not? Your ranting isn't going to change a thing. Here's hoping the paid experts were right.

Which paid experts? The two in Portland or the hundreds outside of Portland?

I’ve gotten to watch some of his tape. My initial thoughts:

- I disagree with those who say Clingan and Yang will not be able to play together. No, they will not be starting together ever like Mobley and Allen. But I think Yang is still mobile to guard most PFs and small ball Cs. Cause man, any time these two are able to spend on the court together are going to be magical. Both of these guys have great vision.

- The Sengeun/Jokic comparisons are real. He looks like he could be comparable on offense with them while having a much higher ceiling defensively. I think that eventually, the team does not miss a beat on defense swapping Yang in for Clingan.

You guys do realize Delano Banton will get All Star votes now, right?

I think anybody ranting would love to be proven wrong.

Being a fan of a team brings emotions.

Just because someone is a paid expert doesn't mean they are good at their jobs.

I’m loving the vision with this team construction right now. Some moves may be questionable, but I’m admiring the clear direction in terms of building the team going forward.

Clingan and Yang are both going to be very good defensive players, Clingan already showing a lot of promise on that end. But man they really can move the ball on offense and are learning to shoot the 3. A few years from now, every player on the floor for us is going to be able to make 3’s. Drafting both clearly lock up our big man rotation going forward.

Scoot and Shae are both still the future in the backcourt to me. Trading for Jrue was questionable, but recouping what we gave up and having the trade essentially a player swap makes this trade better, seeing as Jrue is just a better fit than Ant. I do think Jrue could be moved for a 1st if he helps take this team farther than expected.

A do-it-all forward may be the guy we will need to go all in for down the line, but more growth from Avdija and Camara are going to push this team farther and make it a more attractive destination for a potential star eventually.

Yang is his last name. But in Asian countries, our family name comes first, then middle, then birth name last.
Yeah. I think because Yao went by Yao Ming we can expect him to have Yang on the back of his jersey and he'll likely go by Hansen.

Personally, I love this draft choice and this boldness. We know very well that there can be busts as well as pearls in these drafts and even more after the top 10.
There we go down, we recover future picks and we have the player that the FO wanted.

We already have our starting five with Henderson, Sharpe, Camara, Avdija, and Clingan. All young and yet to develop.
Clingan is the player with the least stamina, it is difficult for him to play at a very high level for more than 30-35 minutes.
We had to find a replacement for him, who would keep the defensive threat, good vision, basketball IQ.
Now, it's up to Schmitz and Cronin to make the right move in the Ayton and Robert Williams deals to bring in veteran players, qualified to strengthen this squad at wingback. What about Grant? Excess motivation or a trade?

I love that this FO has conviction and, for lack of a better word, balls.

They are not going to bat 1000 or whatever you say in baseball, but they know what they like and go for it.

Also, the board meltdown from people that have not done the work these guys do is amusing.

Cronin told us, he wants talent, size and athletic ability, the blazers have gotten bigger and more talented with the 2 moves so far, one of them for immediate impact, the other for further down the road.
