Think this should be Seve's last chance as a starter this season if he fucks up again. Then put him back in the pen and use him late innings where he has been effective. Not everyone is a starter despite their arm. E.G. Mariano and yes one of the most dominant 7th and 8th inning set up guys when he came onto the scene that cashman totally fucked up with the god damn Joba rules trying to force feed the kid as a starter Joba himself. If seve turns out to be a late inning reliever that throws around 100 I'd be fine with that as we need those guys also

Whatever it takes, well almost, within reason...

Per ESPN game preview the line is on Toronto and Mitchell is listed as the Yankees Starter.

Sorry for the confusion guys, this morning they posted Severino as starting and now they have Mitchell.

Notice Austin in RF.
Been thinking about what the Yanks had in mind next year regarding Austin and Bird.
I strongly doubt if they were thinking platoon, or DH- Yanks rightfully are expecting and anticipating both to be everyday contributors playing a position.

Bird is a 1b by trade and Austin HAS played the outfield in the minors.
Just wondering, where or how the Yanks are looking to fit both of them.
In any case, I guess if BOTH are hitting the Yanks will find another spot for Austin.

Big game- Yanks like Mitchell and are putting him right into the fire.
Go for it.
Let it all hang out, Mitchell is in the mix in rebuilding this pitching staff and may as well get him some good experience as soon as possible- he and the Yanks can go into next season knowing he's had at least one good test instead of him starting 2017 not seeing action for a full season.

Mitchell's bugaboo has been his control and falling behind on batters- has a good fastball and a pretty good breaking ball but he gets into trouble not throwing enough strikes.

Baltimore and Detroit have already lost.
Couple more runs would be gigantic.....and necessary.

Ah shit, Yanks just got a tough break, Ellsbury's hit in LF corner bounced into seats for a grounds rule double preventing Gardner from scoring from first....Sonofabitch!

Chalk up the first biggest lucky break for the Toronto Blowjobs.

...5 solid innings from Mitchell...good to see...still have not heard what prompted the Yanx to start him instead Of Severino. Don't know if there was an injury involved or disciplinary or something else. But it did seem kind of out of the blue.

...leadoff double...Seve now in a relief role...interesting.

Nice job by Mitchell, Sevey clone that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good job by Severino getting out of the inning. Take a seat Joey Bats.

Headley has become a terrible 3bman.
He played the run-down poorly allowing Donaldson to make it all the way around to 2nd base now in scoring position with one out. He didn't run Travis further enough back to 2nd base forcing Gregorius to make the extra throw to Sevy covering 3rd base.

Severino got out of trouble by striking out Bautista. Nice job by Sevy.

Headley's bad contract is one thing, but this guy forgot how to play 3d base.
Jeez

^^^ Yeah, and luckily the Jays are taking a page out of the Ynax offensive playbook...they are now 0-8 with RISP.

...f' 'em...let 'em eat cake.

Good job Severino bringing the heat, 6 more outs keep your fingers crossed. :bgrin:

Yankees challenge the call successfully.
Two outs, runner on 3rd......good challenge attempt by Yanks- worth a try, and they got the call.
....Sevy closes out the inning with 100 MPH heater.
He simply looks like a different pitcher out of the bullpen- kinda dominating.
The Yanks may reconsider his future roll and to be honest, if he continues to be great as a reliever I won't criticize them for it. And he has been consistently excellent when he works out of the pen.

Yanks may be back on track to have the formula for shortening games.

Here we go- buckle down.
This game has turned into a two inning game with the opportunity for the Yanks to gain a game on three teams ahead of them- Balt, Detroit and Toronto.

WTF is going on? Where did Sevy go?
Why not send Sevy to start the 9th and at least go one batter at a time?

I DON'T LIKE IT.
