Dame having a down year because of injuries, doesn't change the fact that Ja can't shoot which is reflected in the massive difference in their career PERs.

Further undermining. Marino and Montana are both HOFers/all time greats and have been compared to each other from early on in their careers. Football is the ultimate team game though. That Joe had multiple HOF teammates had a whole lot to do with why he was able to win championships and Dan wasn't. Currently the Chiefs have much more talent then the Chargers. That may change or it may not, but the talent level on their respective teams is not within the control of Patric or Justin.

You act like me being a Beavers fan has anything to do with this take. It does not. But it is apparent you being a Ducks fan certainly is influencing your opinion.

apparently your Beavis hate for all things Duck is affecting your ability to read whats been written. Specifically, I haven't expressed an opinion on how good I think Herbert is as a pro. What I think is your entire premise is ridiculous. Of course these two can be legitimately compared, just like Dame and Ja can be. Unlike your horrible example though, there isn't a massive difference on any stat you can site... they are both high end QBs. Down here in the Bay Area where I live, the local sports talk (specifically the 9ers announcer Greg Papa) has favorably compared Herbert to Mahomes many times. Greg has been calling Raiders and 9ers games for decades and you can catch his 10-2 show daily streaming on KNBR.

The one who is dilutional here looks back at you in the mirror. Of course your Beavis hate for all things Ducks colors your takes. This was obvious months back when you were pretending to be an unbiased Duck fan while lobbing bomb after bomb at them. Keep bringing the funnies!

So comparing Ja to Dame this year is not ok and we need to look at their careers. Yet, looking at Patricks and Justins careers isn't fair? Go back and look at Patricks 2nd year (his first full year as a starter) compared to Justins second year. Again, Patricks is being paid like 4 times more than Justin. Meaning the Chargers have way more room to sign quality players than the Chiefs too. Hence why Patricks team started out rough because their defense was trash and there were oline issues. And guess what? He STILL is on top of the AFC West.

If it makes you feel better thinking Herbert is better than Mahomes, good for you. Delusional. But have at it.

Stats are not the end all be all. Context is needed. Stats can almost always be pointed at and construed how someone wants them to be.

You say Dame was hurt and is a better shooter than Ja. Not this year. Ja also has been hurt too. You mention looking at a career for them to determine who is better. Go ahead and do that with Mahomes and Herbert too instead of looking at one year. Herbert has Mike Williams, Ekeler and Allen on office. Jared Cook is a fine catching TE too. Those are strong offensive pieces. Probably some of the best he will ever have before he gets paid a boatload of money. Mahomes last three years are better than Herberts year this year in terms of QBR and rating. You can't use past PER for Dame and not take that into any consideration for Mahomes and Herbert. Complete Duck Bias.

I don't hate all things Ducks. I don't like the Ducks. I already told you I don't hate Herbert. He has had a tendency to be inconsistent. I said that weeks ago when he was on a slide. He has been pretty consistent the past few weeks though and I am encouraged by that with him. Me saying he is company of Kyler Murray and Josh Allen does not show bias. I like Mariota a lot. Always have. I have never hidden my Duck dislike though.

I guess we will see in the offseason who the players vote higher in player rankings between Mahomes and Herbert. I'll give you a hint who that will be. Mahomes.

Lanning has hired a couple Hawaiian guys to try and keep that Polynesian pipeline going. Rumor is Tosh Lupoi will be hired in some capacity as well. Which would be great for recruiting.

Ducks have hired Tony Tuioti as DLine coach, replacing Joe Salavae'a. Poly for poly. Known as a great recruiter and excellent coach. Holds 2 masters degrees; one in education administration from Hawaii; the other in special education from UNLV

Klemm played college at Hawaii so I’m sure still has connections to that area. I love it. So many Ducks recent greats have came from that area.

#1 - do you not understand how the Pro Bowl voting works? Herbert was the leading vote getter for fans. What does that mean? Nothing really. Remember how many times people get snubbed because fans voted for people over more deserving people? That counts for the first 1/3 weight. The Chargers are tied for most pro bowl starters this year at 5. So much for the team argument you try to lean on between teams this year. Herbie might not even make the playoffs.

If Ja makes the All Star game over Dame this year, does that make him a better player?

We should probably say Herbert is better than Tom Brady too since he is having a better year!

Again, I am not saying Herbert sucks. I have him placed as one of the top 4 young qbs in the league. Just because Herbert is having a comparable year to Mahomes for 1 year does not mean he is better. Mahomes is better and his career shows that.

I am sure people love being around you. Such a pleasant person.

Ja is a fabulous talent. If he keeps up his 3 point shot at the percentage he's shot the small sample of this year for the rest of his career, he stands a good chance of enjoying a career similar to Dame's and maybe better. Of course some of that depends on his teammates, but he is a better athlete and distributor then Dame ever was. The mechanics on his jumper are a bit wonky and thats been the weak part of his game, so we shall see if he ever becomes the offensive monster that Dame has been for many years leading up to this injury season. Anyhoo, this terrible comparison doesn't work for any point you were failing to make with Herbert and Mahomes. It just doesn't, so sorry.

OK, I don't think I have given my latest Duck basketball update, which no one is interested in now, but what about when they somehow get into the big dance?
Ducks won their first Pac-12 game (now 1-2) over Utah. I think this is the first game he started Jacob Young , probably because of his energy on D and O. He had 22 points and three steals and with him handling the ball a lot, Will Richardson seemed to be able to relax some and shot 9 for 12 with a game high 26 points. Eric Williams is the one who seems to be seeing his minutes cut. I thought he was gonna really break out this year. He has good height and length and athleticism for a shooting guard and he even tested NBA waters last year. Had a couple good games to start the season and I see he is shooting almost 43% from three so I guess Altman doesn't like his defense?
Dante seems to be finally healthy and getting most of the minutes at center. He shot 4 for 7 and had 10 rebounds, 2 steals and a block, but five turnovers!. He looks like he should be a lot better (build, athleticism and touch), maybe it will come to him by the end of the season. Altman played twin towers for 6 minutes with him and five star Bittle. Bittle did have a rebound and two blocks, all in the same sequence I believe. Ducks play again tonight.

pretty clearly the coaches on the defensive side of the ball have good X's & O's and player-development resumes, including Lanning. The Offensive side has many more questions and uncertainty
 
Somehow I missed this game; I guess the covid thing has really screwed things around. Looks as if I missed a real thriller as the Ducks barely beat the Beavers 78-76 on a late Eric Williams three. Beavers shot much better overall, but Ducks much better from three (Beavs only 12%) and had 10 more rebounds. Jacob Young continued to justify his placement into the starting lineup, leading the team with 16 points on 7 for 14 shooting. Williams had 14 off the bench with 11 rebounds and three assists. Big man Dante had a solid game in 26 minutes, shooting 5 for 6 and 11 rebounds plus one block.

On Sunday night, Justin Herbert once again found himself dabbling in the record books, putting the stamp on what was another historic season that unfortunately ended in an overtime loss that left his team short of reaching the postseason.

The Los Angeles Chargers lost to the Las Vegas Raiders in overtime, 35-32, in a game that would have sent both teams to the playoffs had it ended in a tie.

The loss was unfortunate, but Herbert was spectacular in the performance, throwing for 383 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

One of the most impressive stats of the night for Herbert came in the clutch, where on 4th down, he went 6-for-6 for 106 yards and a TD on the night. He also happened to tie Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino for the most passing touchdowns of any player through his first two seasons in the NFL.

Sean Dollars and now Trey Benson are entering the transfer portal. Makes me wonder if Dye and Verdejo have indicated to them that they’re staying for senior season so they decided to move on.
