I think there's a lot to like...and be a little to be concerned about with those 3 names:
* I have a barely-educated guess that the top of the Duck pyramid, Phil Knight, Rob Mullens, Pat Kilkenny, etc. have seen the major impact that energy has on recruiting and have empowered Lanning to add '
energy-type' coaches willing to grind. All three of the announced coaches so far are noted for their energy and recruiting ability
* the staff is still largely incomplete, but with 3 white faces on top of the coaching flow chart so far, Lanning might need to make a point to add some minority coaches the rest of the way. Energy is big, but so is the ability to be relatable to recruits. Don Johnson as recruiting coordinator helps in this regard. For example, it's critical the Ducks keep the Oregon Poly pipeline open. If they don't retain Joe Salave'a as DLine coach, they might lose that pipeline
* if you look at the staffs of perpetual football powers, there is always some grey hair visible. Having three early-30-something coaches raises some concern about experience and X's & O's. Now, experience is no guarantee of expertise but an older survivor of the football wars will likely know lots of things a younger guy might not have learned yet. Now, some of this can be supplied by offensive and defensive analysts so pay attention to who the Ducks get to fill those roles
also, names to watch for as far as coaching and staff hires: Tosh Lupoi; TJ Rushing; Marshall Malchow. May not add any of them. But they have all worked with Lanning in the past and that seems to be a standard he is using
