it's funny how Haynes went out of his way to report that Porter took less to go to GS.

punch to the gut.

so he's trade bait because they signed a guy going into his 8th season who is barely a fringe rotation player if he's lucky?

That's idiotic.

When has Porter Jr. stayed healthy? Maybe early days with the Wiz. He's under performed from what was projected from him. Maybe some of it was , his coaches didn't trust he could stay healthy. But i'm not bummed by this at all.

I think Oubre's talent blows Porter Jr's out of the water.

Back to Phoenix.......$120 to CP3 seems crazy to me. 2 years I can see, but 4 years?

Again, how can Miami doing all this signing? Lowry, Robinson, Butler, PJ, Bam and now DeRozan too? Where are they getting all this money? We have a billionaire owner and we can’t even sign anyone.

Here's a thought:

What if we just don't spend the full TPMLE? Save some cash for Jody?

Possible that we only use part of it but it would mean no one left is worth spending the whole thing on imo.

they have this neat thing called 'cap space'

so far: Blazers have re-signed Powell which is something they absolutely had to do

and it looks like they have replaced Melo with McLemore and Kanter with Zeller....?

and Portland's established wing rotation of actual wing-sized players is RoCo,,,then Little, Jones, and Elleby. And most expect Jones is trade bait

there needs to be some good surprise(s) in the rest of free agency, or the run-it-back model is worse than last season. Of course, maybe there's a much bigger surprise on the trade front

I'm glad we resigned Norm, thats great news to read. But as probably has been echoed by many already this has to be followed up with a CJ trade of some sort. Norm just doesn't fit at 3 at least not in the situation of it being Dame/CJ/Norm. But I'd rather have Norm as our starting 2.

I guess I’m gonna go with underwhelming as my feeling for day 1. I never expect to do anything in FA anyway. I really hope the rumor of OPJ turning down the MLE to play for NBA peanuts in GS is true, I also hope it was us that he turned down. That might be the slap in the face Neil needs to realize we have to gamble with a trade to get better. It’s really the only way with where we are now.

Simons averaged almost 8 points a game in a system where he was instructed to basically just shoot threes. so act like he's a "fringe rotational player" is as ignorant as the claim people made that there was no way zach collins was going to get an offer.
From what I could tell, 80% of the time Simons was on the floor he had 1 job: Get the ball to Melo.

Without hesitation we should try and sign him. One of, if not, the best backup PG’s in the league
If we sign him I'm going to say it was a wink-wink outside the trade parameters part of a CJ etc. -- Simmons deal.

That crazy fever dream will at least help me sleep tonight.

The Trail Blazers remain in a holding pattern as they await a decision by Norman Powell, who is their top priority. If Powell signs with Portland, the Blazers will have the taxpayer midlevel ($5.8 million). If he signs elsewhere, the Blazers will have the full midlevel ($9.5 million). The Blazers will be looking for small and power forwards and could be eyeing Paul Millsap, Tony Snell and Nic Batum. But again, depends on which exception they will have to offer.

Quick says Snell maybe for the TPMLE...
