there needs to be some good surprise(s) in the rest of free agency, or the run-it-back model is worse than last season. Of course, maybe there's a much bigger surprise on the trade front

I expect a CJ trade still. but I'm OK with what has been done so far. I think Zeller better all around than Kanter. Mclemore doesn't really replace Melo but just knowing Melo not coming back is an upgrade and we know whoever replaces him will be benched if he is not producing, something that didn't happen with Melo.
 
I wonder if Zeller agreed to the min, but if the Blazers don’t find a good target with the TPMLE, they agreed to give him the 5M….
 
It was incredibly important to bring Powell back.

Losing him would have been a disaster.

It was a huge win for all sides: Dame/Portland/Powell

Money wise it was a win for Powell. Position wise remains to be seen. We gotta get him playing SG.
 
The CJ for Siakam talks didn't go very far.

I don't think any trades involving Blazer starters have gone far.

But there have been quite a few talks involving DJJ, I don't want to report who, but I'd keep an eye on this.

Outside of that, it's been very quiet in Portland.
 
Neil is very high on CJ still. It would have to be a slam dunk deal for them to move him.

It would have to be an absolute obvious upgrade to break up the Dame-CJ duo.

what a waste of 15 minutes with the most connected guy this side of Woj.

At least we have confirmation on the DJ thing. And Fischer's rationale for that was that the org thinks there was a massive dropoff from starters to bench last year, and they want to address that. So it doesn't sound like upgrading the starters is really in the cards.
