That TO was pure dumb luck. 3 points down and the shot clock off, the best percentage play is look for the last shot and force OT. Re-start from even with the home crowd and the momentum. That approach is based on your team doing it right. What the Blazers did was desperately hope for the other team to screw up.
16s left 1 timeout Portland, 0 timeouts Denver.
Portland ball.
Best shot available. Look for a 3, don't need it due to timeouts and time.
Take a bad three, miss the shot and suddenly you're looking @ a 5 point game instead of a 3 point game.
No momentum, no home crowd, no OT.
10s left on the clock after CJ dunked.
Worse case you foul and Denver makes 2 FT's and you call a timeout.
As you're down 3 with 6.9s left.
Literally the right play was made by CJ.

Me personally I don’t mind the hot shooter taking the last shot especially when Dame is so locked down. Would like to see a few more shooters on the floor. Not that I’m saying Baldwin should have been in there but I really like the way he can slash to the hoop which might have been pretty effective with 5 seconds left and down by 1. Maybe draw a foul while being around the rim either way.
