I don't want him on the Blazers at all but this would be a great time to use our capspace to facilitate him to a team that otherwise couldn't get him if PHX doesn't want to take back salary.
I wouldnt offer more than kaman and miller...and probably not even that...we have a lot of young impressionable players...last thing we need is one bad seed turning them into the second coming of the jailblazers.
P.S.
Pelton is stupid if he really thinks we would even consider giving up Vonleh for Morris.
Plus side if we do get him we can nickname him M&M
As my picture might suggest, I would love nothing more than a second coming of the Jail Blazers. Long live Sheed and Bonzi! Brian Grant and Damon! Scottie Pippen and JR Rider. All time favorite Blazers team (I do not condone all of their off-court activities...)I wouldnt offer more than kaman and miller...and probably not even that...we have a lot of young impressionable players...last thing we need is one bad seed turning them into the second coming of the jailblazers.

But that doesn't make him any less of a dumbass.I think some people here are ignoring the fact that Markieff has a point with his beef with the Suns.
He isn't mad at them because he's a dumbass.
All depends on what we would have to take back salary wise to get him to another team. Could be a second round pick or two or it could be a nice young player with promise.Another second round pick?
Were in asset acquistion mode, and he's an asset. Why would we add him? Because you can never have too many assets. We aren't in "add serviceable players to fill out the roster" mode. Especially at his position. We have four other front court players with twice the upside and half the baggage, and a seasoned vet who is a proven big man mentor. Why on gods gray earth would adding Morris even be contemplated? How about we think about decent backup point guards?
NO always lauds culture and fit. Morris don't fit the culture. Were in asset acquistion mode, and he's an asset. Why would we add him? Because you can never have too many assets.
There's a lotta guys that have behavioral red flags. With us, we're not gonna attract star free agents, so to get enough assets to position us as contenders you gotta take risks.NO always lauds culture and fit. Morris don't fit the culture.
If you gave me a player profile of: 25 years old, 18/7/3 per 36 statline last year on 49% shooting, 76% from the stripe, and has shot 3s at over a 30% clip his whole career, I'd take him in a heartbeat.I think people here are heavily underrating Morris. Sure he has attitude problems, and could be a problem off the court, but that's another issue.
pelton's rumor/morris value was a swap for vonleh. you do that trade? not me ,not yet. There's a lotta guys that have behavioral red flags. With us, we're not gonna attract star free agents, so to get enough assets to position us as contenders you gotta take risks.
I'm not up for tradon a player of value like Meyers or Plumlee for him, but the thing is is I think he can be had for less, and if so I think it's a chance that should be taken.
definitly wouldn't do that. I think Pelton pulled that out of his ass.pelton's rumor/morris value was a swap for vonleh. you do that trade? not me ,not yet.
Exactly. If you gave me a player profile of: 25 years old, 18/7/3 per 36 statline last year on 49% shooting, 76% from the stripe, and has shot 3s at over a 30% clip his whole career, I'd take him in a heartbeat.
You add the red flags it lowers his value, which gives us more reason to take a free flyer on him. I don't see it hurting us and it could help us a lot going forward.
What exactly can we use the $8M on instead and what game changers are out there to get?If we trade for Markieff it's cap-room, trade exception for him but even then it isn't a no-brainer because we could use these 8mil iin other ways.
I still think he's a good player, though, and probably not over-paid. He could give us another very nice piece in the front-court but maybe we could keep the money and try to bring a "game changer" instead.
Yes, we're in "asset acquisition mode", NOT "asshole acquisition mode"......Were in asset acquistion mode, and he's an asset. Why would we add him? Because you can never have too many assets.
I would take either Pope or Dinwiddie. I really liked Dinwiddie coming out of school, but he sort of disappointed in his rookie year.I like the idea of us facilitating a trade to this team and getting these prospects back. I'll give 2 players I'd love to have abs could be potential targets in a 3-Team trade involving Markeiff. Let's see if yall can guess them
Player A: 22 years old, 6'5 SG, played 2 seasons
Per 36: 15ppg, 4reb, 2ast on 40% FG and 35% 3pt shooting. High motor, great defender, with top notch 2 way potential
Player B: 22 years old, 6'6 PG, 34 career games in 1 season
Per 36: 11ppg, 8ast, 4reb on 30% FG and 19% 3pt shooting. A good defender. In 7 D-League games, he shot 35% from 3 and was a 40% 3pt shooter in college.
You can if those assets are toxic. Were in asset acquistion mode, and he's an asset. Why would we add him? Because you can never have too many assets.
No, it isn't. He's nowhere near good enough to be such a big a pain in the ass.I think people here are heavily underrating Morris. Sure he has attitude problems, and could be a problem off the court, but that's another issue.
you seem to keep wanting to trade away all these assets we've already acquired and for low character guys and get rid of all our draft picks...one step forward, two steps backward to become what exactly? Who exactly are these role players that are suddenly going to be signed before November that fill out the roster? Might try and focus on the actual roster we have for a change and start some hype for their success...just sayin'Were in asset acquistion mode, and he's an asset. Why would we add him? Because you can never have too many assets.
No, it isn't. He's nowhere near good enough to be such a big a pain in the ass.
The truth of Morris probably lies between what the 2 camps (the Bring Him Ins & the DON'Ts!) believe. I think for those of us sayin', if he's cheap, bring him in: he may not help our team as much as we might think/b worth the headache for what he might produce. He is young though so... At the same time, he's definitely got baggage & he may get himself into more things during his time here IF he came here BUT I don't think the trouble he might cause would b as severe as ppl think (to our players/team growth etc.).
