Harrison sleeping with the enemy. The guys have been friends/close for 20 years. When Rob becomes President and Jeanie focuses on CEO duties, I wonder who will get the next GM job of the Lakers?
I can understand Harrison being a crappy GM.

Buy how does Mavs ownership approve this?

They bought a franchise for what 3 billion? Probably lost over a billion of worth in one day with this trade.

Klay isn't even a starting level player.

Kyrie was asking that he could be the 2nd or 3rd best player on the Mavs. We saw him as the lead creator in Boston and elsewhere it not a title winning player at all.

Davis is very good on both ends.

None of these guys are leading the Mavs to a playoff series win though. This trade is a joke.

Misrepresent much? AD said just last week that the Lakers need to bring in a center because he plays best as a 4.
Yeah Davis is soft like LaMarcus was. He never won anything playing PF.

How is the spacing going to work with Lively and Davis clanking jumpers?

Mavs aren't going to win a single playoff series now - if they even make the playoffs that is.

In a fascinating interview with Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News, Harrison said he approached Lakers head of basketball operations Rob Pelinka more than a month ago to have “basketball” conversations.

Harrison noted that the two have known each other for a couple of decades from their previous jobs, when Harrison was a Nike executive and Pelinka was a player agent...

Doncic will no longer be eligible for an extension worth 35% of the salary cap this summer after being moved; the most he can make now is 30%.

“We really feel like we got ahead of what was going to be a tumultuous summer, him being eligible for the super-max and also a year away from him being able to opt out of any contract,” Harrison said.

Yeah, Pelinka thought the offer was a joke. I wonder why.

It’s why I’ve said it’s collusion. This trade really doesn’t make sense at all. I understand the talent that Davis is. But c’mon. Everyone realizes that he’s just a periphery piece at this point in his career. After everyone has realized no one would ever want to build around him
AD has played like a top 5 player in the NBA this season. Look up the numbers. But he is definitely too old to give up Luka for.

How do the Mavs not even get the Lakers 2031 pick?

The Lakers got Pau Gasol for peanuts and won two titles. Luka is way better than Gasol ever was. How many more titles will this gift them?

This makes zero sense at all.

Even if the Mavs were set on trading Luka they should've shopped for a better deal. Half the teams in the league would've offered more.
Grizzlies got Marc Gasol for Pau. Not peanuts.

I wonder what the Knicks would’ve offered. They have the assets if they were interested.

Marc hadn't played a game then - he was a throw in 2nd round pick.

That trade made no sense at the time. Still this is 10x worse.

And how do the Lakers benefit on both of these deals. That damn franchise.

I seriously think all 28 other teams in the league could've beaten this deal.

Even Phoenix who has about the fewest assets in the league. 28 year old Booker and Phoenix picks is a bigger haul.

Not this year but Luka is capable of leading them to titles over the next 10 years.

Not with their lack of draft picks going forward, and LeBron finally retiring they're not.

Lakers can get a couple Thybulle type of role players and contend this year. It's more likely they contend this year with Luka than Davis. Luka led the Mavs to the finals and the WCF another year.

Davis only time leading a team anywhere was the one season with the Pelicans beating us before getting bounced in 5 games the next round.

Insane the Mavs did this deal.

The Lakers kept their 2031 pick and have about 4 years of swaps. They also have Kneckt and Reaves who both have very good first round pick value.

It's insane the Mavs didn't ask for more.

Maybe that's your opinion but the betting consensus is clearly the Mavs odds are much worse and the Lakers odds are much better.

That's just this season. In a few years when Luka hasn't even hit his peak this will be much more lopsided.

Who is the Mavs best wing today -

PJ Washington

You mean besides the NBA championship in the bubble?
Granted he had LBJ but Luca had Kyrie last year.

Marc Gasol was considered a giveaway price for Pau. Marc was the 48th pick, playing in Europe, the trade was Feb. 1, and no one knew in which year Marc would come over from Europe. It was a surprise that Marc later became a solid starter in Memphis.

So yes, the Lakers have a decades-long run of supposed "good luck."
