The playoff streak is exactly what Neil hid behind.

The Blazers squeaked in 8 consecutive times*

Two 3rd seeds, although sweep one of those. But they made the WCF the other. Its a respectable 8 year run, not bad, but not great. Never a contender and now seemingly no path to get there.

I'm all for having a new GM. Problem is I have very little faith in Jody/Bert bringing on a good one. I guess we hope they get lucky and accidently have an excellent hire.

They must have gotten some interviews with candidates already though. Is Cronin going to be empowered to make moves? Because the season is not going well and there are a number of players who's future is not certain. They can't just continue on the current path and expect things to be okay.
Fischer said that the end of Dame's prime will be entrusted in the replacement's hands and ownership is fully aware of it. common sense would dictate that they've done some due diligence already but you never know with Allen/Kolde. they seem to bungle obvious decisions and make a mess of things. We need a strong/transparent leader. She's never going to do it with the upcoming TV deal, but I hope to God she would put the team up for sale.

this is nonsense. mannix is a boston-stan who really has no connections outside of that city. don't buy it.

Ainge also stepped down as GM for health reasons. He makes sense as a Jerry West style advisor, but I don't think it makes sense to bring him on as a full time GM. The Blazers now also without McGowen are an organization lacking executive management to share those duties.

it's not happening. Mannix is the only guy repeatedly throwing Ainge's name out there.

why is that nonsense? He should be the first call

cuz Ainge is overrated, we don't need a guy with local ties, and he's washed. i have no interest in bringing in a retread hack who thought sebastian telfair was > brandon roy. his claim to fame was winning a championship on the backs of his friend kevin mchale gift-wrapping him garnett after Ainge failed to even tank correctly. dude is trash.

Any way that players or coaches had insight last night into this type of thing happening soon?

The blowout loss at home to a poor Spurs team seemed unusual even for this underwhelming of a season.

It was nice success in the beginning....but it didn't show the growth to anything more than that. Then it because stale. While making the Playoffs every year was nice, you want to improve and get better.

That just wasn't happening.

completely risk averse. had PA been around, neil woulda been gone a year or two ago.

I wonder if this would have happened if the Blazers had won by 31 points last night instead of losing by 31?
