either is cool

Brent Barry would be my choice. Though, it's partly because of my ignorance towards Prince in how he would assemble a roster. Does he have experience or any attributes that would lend itself to being a quality GM?

god this shit needs to die. i do not want Ainge at all. What is with some of you people and local dudes, man?

A team he assembled won a title. In his first year as GM. When the previous year they finished 24-58. What more do you want?

Stotts gone - not a bad coach but he had grown stale and there weren't signs of improvement.
Neil gone - It was NOT just the coach you dumb&ss!!
......now CJ needs to be moved for a front court player. The four 6'3" guys that are taking nearly 70% of the shots is not a formula that will work.....EVER.

you really think they fire him because of one loss, and not a month-long investigation involving nearly the entire basketball ops staff including players/ex-coaches/etc?

sorry for confusion....I meant the timing of the announcement

I'd think Seattle has known the results of the investigation for a while and was probably going to fire Olshey at some point. 12 hours after a 31 point home loss to a 6-14 team may have been optimal timing

memphis has been hitting on nearly every single draft pick the past few yrs, even late first round ones. they also made a decent coaching hire and are building a great team of the future.

but their defense has been very subpar this season with largely the same roster they had last year.

i like that chauncey and tayshaun have a connection though. that synergy between coach/FO has proven to be important.

I honestly didn't know he was the GM for Memphis. Good stuff. Thanks.

that would make sense if they thought this news was going to be received poorly. the city has been on pins and needles waiting for this announcement for a month now.

i think it was purely coincidental and they were simply waiting for the friday afternoon (eastern) news dump. this is how nearly every major news has dropped this year with this team.

too bad the Vulcans seem like really questionable ownership

I'd wonder if James Jones would like to escape from Sarver. But probably not as he'd probably like to be there if the Suns win the championship

Neil Olshey has been fired by the Portland Trail Blazers!
Come chat about the breaking news with @hoopsjock on Blazers Uprise.

Wasn’t he the GM…? What do you know that we don’t?
Go back and read up on how KG ended up in Boston and who the head of bball ops was in Minny.

also, look up why Ainge stepped down in Boston and read how players around the league feel about him, and why players like Tatum/Brown insisted on having a Black coach, and why Stevens assumed Ainge's role. Ainge is thought of very poorly by players around the league for his lack of empathy and guys like Anthony Davis deliberately avoided the Celtics as a potential destination solely because of Ainge. We have no need for a guy like that in 2021.

Need to trade Dame so he can win a ring like Clyde then start over.

Can someone please check on @sheed30 to make sure he is ok with this news.

Pssstttt. This is a joke Sheed30. All in good fun.

haha is it really? You liked your own post, odd. Good to know I live rent free in your head.

As I said many times, never once did I defend Neil. But i think it made you feel better to assume so.

Just hope now we don’t have a GM that trades Dame for Simmons or something dumb like that.

Now that we got rid of Neil, can Quick and Canazno please follow him out the door!

this happened 14 yrs ago.

i feel like some of you just have blinders on about Ainge's competence.

HE DID SOMETHING. Unlike Olshey.

In the years after Boston's title win, Ainge kept trying. He didn't stagnate. He kept trying to use what he had to make his team better. He wasn't scared.

And with an entitled fanbase like Boston's pissing at his every move.

he also leaked to the media every potential deal he could have made. he is despised by players throughout the league.
