Winning this way bodes well for long term. Learning experience and a win? Beautiful... It actually made the win EVEN better... battle for those Ws, and they did!

Was listening to one of the pregame shows on the drive in and they brought up a good point. How many players that are gaining experience will be with us if we become legit contenders?

The reality is that the Clippers still have good players who have won in the playoffs. These young Blazers have, what, one guy that's ever won a playoff series? You just can't underestimate how hard it is to finish a team off in the playoffs when you've never been there and they have. Maybe if CP and Blake were healthy we'd have seen the Clippers finish off the Blazers tonight, but injuries are a part of the game. This is like saying the Warriors championship last year meant nothing because Irving and Love were out for the Cavs. I mean, it's just kind of a weak argument that looks at basketball as a video game rather than as a reality with men who have put months and years of effort into this one night. To say that this should have been easy is disrespectful to those Clippers players who absolutely battled tonight and also to the Blazers who kept fighting and finally were able to finish off a team playing with nothing to lose.
It's more than that. Golden State played New Orleans without Davis for 2 games and swept them then they played Memphis without Connelly. Then they played Houston without Beverly and of course the Cavs without Love and with Irving for a game and a half. But that Championship team is regarded as one of the best ever.

There's definitely more work to be done this season, but let's enjoy the moment
Exactly! Even the best teams always pause to enjoy the moment. You/they never move on immediately. You celebrate your success; then move on to the next challenge.

Never celebrating your successes, leads to a team that feels like nothing is ever good enough. Conversely, always celebrating (or over celebrating) your successes leads to a team who thinks that "near enough, is good enough".

Balance is the key.

Aminu has had one good game out of six.

No. One GOOD game? He had one SENSATIONAL game. He is not a Superstar. He's a role player. You can't expect him to score 30 a night. But if he can play good defense all series, and rebound well all series, and have ONE great game that helps us get one of the four wins we need to win a series, he's worth a helluva lot in this league.

Crowed needs to force these guys to hit shots. Cheer harder

We were cheering our asses off!
I'm loving this...moda center is loud
Very loud. I never thought we'd lose because the crowd was on.

Look at all the people sitting on their hands behind the basket. Wow

Most of the arena was cheering all game long.

I was all happy that aminu had 30 but holy shit it's crazy how terrible he actually is. Awareness, inside game, outside game. Only good at defense. Drives me fucking crazy to see players with so much potential just suck ass

Dude. See above. Role players who can score 30 and win a playoff game for your you are very rare. I can think of maybe 5 league-wide and Aminu is one of them.

We are playing a team that is devoid of a pg. terrible shot selection again. I want to strangle Aminu. Not having fun.

You guys don't get it.

They're barely squeaking by.

If CP3 doesn't go down I think the Blazers win *maybe* one game.

And it all rests on Dame's shoulders.

Austin Rivers is a super scrub but he's playing aggressively and gave Dame all kinds of trouble before the injury. Dame can't keep Rivers in front of him. That's not going to fly against Golden State.

What? MAYBE one game? We DID win one gam with Paul on the floor and we were winning the game when he left in the second half of Game 4. I personally believe we would've won the series if they didn't get hurt. We had turned a corner before they got hurt.

Wow!!!!!!

Yay! You're back!

Just win one of the two.

Hell no! Get greedy! We need both against a great team like GS. They can win at Moda so we've got to wit wo at Oracle.

It doesn't really bother me. It's just a game. Just saying, it's like celebrating barely beating the 76ers at home.

Rivers/Crawford/Green and a All NBA First Team center is wayyyyyy better than 76ers. You don't understand the game at all. You watch all the games and know absolutely nothing.

Exactly. Basketball, and sport in general is more than the players you put out on the court/field. It's about your whole organization. Your list is part of that. Injuries are part of that. Having players on your list who are injury prone, or not; is a decision that organizations make. Having players who are susceptible to soft tissue injuries (because of their bodies/movements) on your list, is a decision that is made. Having players that are more prone to collision injuries, because they go harder at the ball, and put their bodies on the line is a decision that is made by the organization. Yes, it is a risk versus reward in regards to players who go "all out", versus the chances of them being injured by going "all out"; but they are the decisions that organizations and GM's (like Neil Olshey) make. No series can just be dismissed by saying "Oh yeah, but he was injured". Every decision made, both on court, and off court combines to make a perfect storm.

Yep. That and Paul broke his hand making an illegal play. And while it wasn't a related injury, Griffin punched the fucking equipment manager in public and injured his hand in the process. Killed the amount of time he had to ease into playoff mode. They're both Grade A jerks and karma bit them both in the ass.

Yes, this is exactly my point. The Clippers knew, when they recruited Chris Paul, that he was the type of player that likes to swipe at balls. They knew that this style of play could lead to steals/turnovers, but there was a risk involved in his aggressiveness. The Clippers brass decided that the risk was worth the reward ( as anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together would).

The Clippers also conducted a psych evaluation of Griffin when they drafted him (as every team does with every player). They knew what his personality was/is. They judged that the reward was greater than the risk, in regards to his talent versus his (off court) personality.

Every factor; every decision made; makes a difference in the fortunes of a sporting organization.

ESPN had you guys muted hard. Shit pissed me off. I would have rather heard the crowd than those 2 idiots get excited when clippers got close.

#RESPECT
Respect, yes. But why did the refs let him on the court with blood running down his face like that? Usually they freak out if you have a drop of blood on your jersey?

Victory is sweet!

This is why I will always be against tanking. Winning breeds winning.

#win (so @HCP will understand me)
There is just no way to explain it any better than what we are seeing right now. Tanking for a draft pick is just not the way to go. Yes it worked for the Spurs and Duncan while they had Robinson, but there are just so many examples of it not working.

Rivers/Crawford/Green are bench players. Perhaps they would win more games in a regular season than the 76ers, but no one would expect that crew to contend in the playoffs. And it's not like they played particularly well.

Jamal Crawford shot 19% from 3 this series, Austin Rivers shot 23%, JJ Redick, who reportedly had an injured heel, shot 35% (down from the 47% he shot this season). I know DeAndre Jordan was great, but why couldn't the Blazers, at full strength pull alway from that group? They played us even for the most part.

I'm just saying, if you face an opponent full strength, then you take away 2 out of their top 3 players, and barely beat them, you show that you had no chance against them at full strength.

If i were a Clipper fan, and the team barely beat the Blazers in a series without Damian and CJ I wouldn't gloat over that.

I didn't realize Paul and Griffin got injured in game two.

God I hate when they do that. It takes away the whole atmosphere of the game. Some networks do it and others don't. It surprises me that ESPN can be so ignorant about it.
The telecast last night was absolutely horrible.

I wanted to watch the replay last night, and remembered watchespn has replays of games.

I got through about 15 minutes. Couldn't stand it.

This is where you went wrong. One should never be surprised about the ignorance of ESPN.

Anybody notice that on the hype video they play before the player introductions there is no mentions of LaMarcus Aldridge? There were posters of the past playoff matchups with Houston in 2008 and Phoenix the next year. They listed guys like Dante Cunningham but not LMA? Must be some hard feelings still within the organization.

EDIT Found it: http://www.nba.com/blazers/video/teams/blazers/2016/04/25/intros

Great pic of the team after the game in the locker room.

I just noticed... why is there a space between Meyers and Kaman's locker?
