Thank you! I don't really get this either. It's almost as if some in here think a journalism career is going to come from their "unbiased" coverage of the team from our message board. It's mind boggling to me to see some posters that have spent a TON of time and writing trying to disprove any positive notion people have on the board. That's a weird sort of fandom to me.I guess what I don't get, is the fear of being wrong. Who cares? I choose to believe in a player until all doubt is removed of his inability to rise to the next level. Is there some prize for being right about a player being not good?
And before someone asks....the prize for supporting before proof is existing..... is a personal place of positive, rather than negative.... until such questions are answered. Simple, really.
Really like the progress we are seeing out of Scoot. He seems to let the game come more to him and isn't playing so frantically like the first 10 games. Seems he's gotten those early game jitters out. His 3 point shot of late has been a nice surprise too, wonder if he has been putting in a lot of work on his shot, if so it shows. We just all have to be patient with Scoot, right now he looks every bit worthy of the #3 selection, but he is young and is going to have his ups and downs, he'll have more downs this year I am sure, we just gotta be patient. My main criticism I have that he still needs to really work on is the fouling, he is still a fouling machine.
I think we can hold onto all three guards for at least another year, but the decision has to be made going into 25-26 because I don’t think we can risk Ant leaving for nothing or potentially having to pay all three max extensions.
I think Ant is worth more in trade the sooner he is moved than the later. A team interested in him wants his cheap contract for as long as possible before extending him again.
Still December and I am pretty sure he is not a "bust" anymore. Lol, he can be in ROY talks in March. He will be probably.

Now that Scoot is taking and making some 3's he is seeing a much more open court. Defenses have to guard his shot now. Next progression might take a full season. He needs to work on finishing left. When (yes I said WHEN) he does that he will be one of the best PG's in the league.
Get ready everyone because this guy will be fun to watch hopefully for a very long time.

my only fear is do ego’s get in the way. If all three aren’t starting or if one guy is stunting the growth of another (Ant stunting growth of Shae or Scoot) one will eventually want out of Portland.
my biggest fear is Sharpe tends to defer so when he’s not being asked to do as much he disappears thus stunting his growth. Guess you can see who plays together the best and then make a decision
here’s my take on all three
Ant- phenomenal offensive player with all star potential. Offensively makes game a little easier because he draws so much attention but ultimately not a true PG becoming acceptable defender
Scoot- superstar potential. Be an ok shooter who will eventually be able to get to the basket at will. His strength is old school PG drive and find guys for easy shots. Defensively has all star potential and wants to be great defender. Skys the limit with his determination and skill set
Sharpe- huge upside and for the most part when asked can carry a team offensively. Potential to be really good defender. Good to great shooter/scorer. Can disappear when playing with other good players, he rarely forces shots and extremely team oriented. All star/ super star potential but needs to be carburetor not a piston (sorry poor analogy but you get the point)
We better get something real nice in return if we're going to trade our best player. This is probably true but it's hard to say. I think if we give him a full year at point guard he can show that he is, in fact, a point guard. I think teams thought he was another combo guard like CJ.
I think when it comes to trading Ant, a team would have to blow our doors off if they wanted him by the upcoming trade deadline... I think the same thing would go for the upcoming draft. I think we would get serious about trading him at the deadline 2025 but maybe by then there is a three man rotation at guard that just works between Ant, Shae and Scoot. A lot of time to be patient with Scoot and the three guard situation. This is probably true but it's hard to say. I like your vibe, Eric. The secret to being happy in life is to set reasonable expectations. No you won’t. Some of us are already excited.
Why would we trade Reath????We better get something real nice in return if we're going to trade our best player.
I can take credit for that.Time to change the name of the thread to Bust A Scoot yet?
I don't remember who suggested it, but it needs to happen.

Busta-Scoot?

I wonder if that's how the Warriors felt when they traded Monta Ellis
I don't wonder that, but if we have a future multi-time MVP, and two other all-star players on our roster like the Warriors did, then we could probably not maximize the value on an Ant trade.
I don't believe that's the case.
The Warriors did not have anything more than hope for a future multi-time MVP and two other all-star players when they traded Ellis. Same position Portland currently finds itself in.

I just hope a few teams in the league gauge Ant as our most valuable asset and bid accordingly.right...if the gauge of a trade is what happens several years later
of course, you weren't talking about that when I replied. You were talking about the here and now of Portland possibly trading their best player, with 'best' being a subjective gauge that doesn't account for both ends of the floor, or the record the team has with that best player.
