I don't know. It seems like you're sympathizing with the corporate Democrat mantra that everything needs to be means-tested.
Means-testing is a great way to waste a lot of funds that could have helped a lot of people.

It's far worse than having a few people get money who wouldn't pass the means test because it prevents far more people who need it from getting it

I agree with that - as currently implemented for most if not all programs.
There's no fundamental reason why one couldn't do it efficiently, however. It's just data.
FEMA is obviously the last place you'd want to try that, though.

It's an outrage! An outrage, I tell you!! Biden spent an hour and a half working out! Dereliction of duty! Impeach him! Lock him up!!

For a feeble senile old man who can barely zip his fly, that's a pretty damn good workout.

That widely reported Wall Street Journal poll showing 76% of voters think Biden is too old but only 46% said the same about Trump .... Was paid for by Trump Super PAC.

So Biden is too old to be president but Trump isn't? Republicans, make that make sense.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opin...-old-president-trump-is-same-age/70784995007/

Trump, the far-and-away leading GOP primary candidate and Biden’s most likely opponent, is a mere three years younger than Biden. That's nothing.

President Joe Biden is an older fellow.

Biden’s 80. He’s “up in years.” The man is no spring chicken. Biden is, in terms of human chronometry, old.

You may have already learned this, as it seems nearly every story, poll and lump of political-punditry pablum surrounding the 2024 presidential election can be distilled down to: “HOLY YIKES! JOE BIDEN IS OLD!”

Yes, Biden is older. But what would you call Trump?
While the age of the president and leading Democratic presidential candidate is a wholly valid issue, I fear the mainstream news media, of which I’m a part, as well as the electorate at large might be missing an important point: Donald Trump, the far-and-away leading GOP primary candidate and Biden’s most likely opponent, is a mere three years younger than Biden.

Trump is 77. If you’re going to call Biden “too old,” you can’t pretend Trump doesn’t belong in that same category.
If you’re going to bemoan the advanced ages of certain lawmakers – from 81-year-old Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell to 90-year-old Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein – you can’t turn around and pretend the 77-year-old guy who thinks exercise is unhealthy, loves fast food and is presently under the stress of four criminal indictments is a model of youth and good health.

Yet all we seem to hear about is Biden’s age. I suspect that’s because he hasn’t been charged with conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government or election interference – Trump has! – and because he has actually accomplished quite a bit in his first term, from a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill to the CHIPS and Science Actto a $35 monthly cap on insulin prices for seniors on Medicare.

Biden's age is one of the things Republicans have to attack him on
You don’t hear as much about those things because folks on Fox News and assorted right-wing propaganda networks are busy claiming Biden can’t string two sentences together and is frail or half-dead.

Then we see Biden meeting with world leaders, leaving this week on the 14th foreign trip of his presidency, working to pass bipartisan legislation in an age when bipartisanship seems impossible and riding his bike along a beach path on vacation.

Please direct me to recent video of Trump riding a bike. Heck, if the former president made “Donald Trump Attempts to Ride a Bike” a pay-per-view event, he would easily raise enough money to pay the lawyers defending him against 91 state and federal felony charges.

Biden has never been a great orator – hindered in part by a stutter – and his gaffes and occasional flubbed lines combined with the fact that he’s an older dude make him seem addled at times.

But have you listened to also-older-dude Trump spouting unhinged, conspiratorial, fact-free rants at rallies, occasionally slurring his words and generally sounding like the senior crank at the end of the bar?

Democrats haven't countered the issue of Biden's age by noting Trump is effectively his contemporary, but they really don't need to when they can knock the opposition around on actual issues, like fomenting an insurrection and denying he lost the election that he most definitely lost.

This is your GOP.Take a good look at Trump's booking photo, Republicans.

With Trump and Biden, age is a concern for both, not just one
The bottom line is this: They’re both older. Three years difference is nothing, particularly when you consider each is vying for a four-year term.

If Biden wins, he’ll leave office at 86. If Trump wins, he’ll leave office at 82 and turn 83 that June. It’s not like we’ll be picking between Homer Simpson’s dad and Ryan Gosling.

And if you worry, understandably, about who an older president has as his No. 2, Biden has Vice President Kamala Harris, an intelligent and experienced former lawmaker. She’s not very popular, but when you hear Trump-world tossing around potential VP names like GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene or failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, Harris starts looking like FDR.

Greene peddles Burning Man conspiracy. This GOPer has power to shut government down?

Younger presidential candidates would be great, but it's not likely to happen this time
I would love it if the Democratic Party's fielding a youthful candidate with boundless charisma and unmatched communication skills. I suspect many Republicans wish their party's fielding someone similarly engaging, a candidate younger than Trump and without a LaGuardia Airport’s worth of baggage.

But barring a sea change in voter preferences in the coming months, that ain’t happening. Republicans have younger candidates in the primary, but their voters are overwhelmingly supporting Trump.

So we’re almost bound to have the octogenarian vs. the almost-octogenarian, and no matter how badly the right wants to make Biden’s age disqualifying, it isn’t.

Because compared with Trump’s age, there’s not much difference.

That’s not an opinion, it’s just math.

Maybe we need presidential age limits or a competency test, but for now, we work with what we have
The answer could be to one day put age limits on higher office. Or do what GOP presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley has proposed and require some kind of mental competency test for lawmakers of a certain age.

I’m OK with all that, though I don’t think it’s fair to assume a person is incapable of any particular job because of their age.

We’ll see plenty of Biden and, tragically, we’ll see plenty of Trump.

We’ll get doctor’s reports and hopefully watch a couple debates and see dozens of stump speeches and whatnot.

And then we’ll decide. Whether a number is the determining factor in choosing between two wildly different politicians who stand on dramatically different platforms is up to individual voters.

But let’s stop acting like those numbers are something new. Biden is 80. Trump is 77.

Get used to it.

Seems like we could pretty easily dock a cruise ship or two near there to house and feed everyone who lost a home in the fires while they wait for FEMA to rebuild their homes...
That would be very easy, there are literally cruise ships there every week. Been to lahaina over 25 times and you would not go there when there a was cruise ship in the harbor since it was so busy. this is a good short term solution. Weird they havent done it yet, i wonder why not.....

So Biden is too old to be president but Trump isn't? Republicans, make that make sense.

Only one of them is suffering from dementia and can no longer formulate coherent sentences. They are both old though.

Where do you get your info?...or are you simply parroting unfounded BS you've read or heard?

And you quoted me as if I made the statement... the article/link made the statement, not me.

Biden was not my guy in 2020 but he was the only one on the ballot not name Donald f'n Trump. When was the last time Trump formulated a "coherent sentence"?...not sure he ever has.

Please show a legit medical document stating Biden has been diagnosed with dementia...he hasn't, and you already knew that. The fact is, Biden still has a speech impediment and stuttered badly when he was younger.

$1.5 billion cruise ship to be scrapped after company filed for bankruptcy

The “world’s largest” cruise ship which would have been able to carry 9000 passengers is now set to be scrapped before its maiden voyage.

I don’t have access to the president’s medical records, but something tells me you already knew that. I use my eyes and ears to interpret the world around me, not what the nice people on the screen tell me I’m seeing or hearing. The fact there are people still refusing to admit Joe Biden is not suffering from severe mental decline is lunacy in itself. We can all watch the videos of him confused and wandering off in the wrong direction or the endless speeches of him mumbling nonsense incoherently. A semi coherent thought is the exception to the rule at this point. Trump being a cocky douche, getting facts wrong out of sheer stubbornness or insulting people is not the same as an old man losing his faculties. You can argue what’s better or worse, that is here not there and doesn’t address the stark reality.

It’s amazing, almost frightening to me how in 2023 two people or groups can witness the exact same thing in real time and interpret it as two polar opposite things. We’re living in some Orwellian dystopian nightmare.

Translation; I have absolutely no evidence/documentation whatsoever to support my claim...so, my myopic opinion will have to suffice.

And you claim not to have access to Biden's medical records even though they are readily available...and you knew that too.

LOL! This most recent Biden trip is full of classics. His handlers actually had to cut his mic and shuffle him offstage mid-ramble. It’s probably just because he had a stutter 40 years ago though.

Sounds like Biden has two feet in the grave in this video. Someone just needs to push the bastard over already. He is too damn old, and clearly not there enough to run anything. Especially an entire country.

After Biden's first run, I can't imagine how anyone could want this heartless bastard to ever run again.

As much as you dislike people misusing mental illness as an insult you should steer clear of using ageism as an insult. Wishing for an old man to die is a classless post dude. I don't think seniors that old should be in the workfield at all for their own longevity, but what I see from Joe is that he needs to work from home...traveling around the world and being woke up in the middle of the night take a toll on elderly folks....I'm only 69 and I couldn't do that job without suffering exhaustion I'm sure. Empathy is a two way street Road Ratt. I don't fault you for not liking Biden but there's another way to do that. Tell me what he's done in his term that you think is harmful to the country and I'll listen. I think he's done a great job repairing our foreign relationships and alliances after Trump insulted all our friends overseas and I think Joe has done a great job handling the post pandemic recovery. I think Joe has built a staff of competent public servants on his cabinet after the last stretch of liars and grifters all have ended up arrested for conspiracies to overthrow our democracy...choices eh? I wish we had better options but until then the lesser of two evils gets my vote everytime

Wow, I don't remember anyone claiming that Biden wasn't old, but that was never the point, was it? Nope, you claimed that it was obvious that the man was suffering from "dementia" and after requesting that you provide proof, you claimed that you did not have access to his medical records. I then provided them for you. Your snide comment about his stuttering problem does not at all dispute actual facts, which is that he actually does not suffer from "dementia"...If you wanna have a discussion, please try to keep things in their proper context.

First, I'd like to know why you say he's an "heartless bastard", because he's neither? Second, how many times have you had to endured the same itinerary and in so many different time zones as Biden has in the last few days? It's surely taxing on the mind and body, even for a young man. Should Joe run again? No, but for reasons known only to yourself, you are somehow regaling in someone else's misfortune...kudos.

What a crock of shit. He’s flying in Air Force One with all the creature comforts you can ask for.
Same response as before...how often have you had to endure the same schedule as Biden has in the last few days?..."creature comforts" be damned.

Jet lag disorder

^^^Well said, very well said. And I echo your sentiments about Biden's cabinet. The quality of the cabinet members a POTUS selects and surrounds himself with, is often a huge factor in his success...Those cabinet members/advisors offer their slant/opinion on topics which can help the POTUS make an educated decision... and Joe has some smart people in those positions instead of a bunch hand puppets as with the previous administration.

Jet lag disorder

Risk factors
Factors that increase the likelihood you'll experience jet lag include:

  • Number of time zones crossed. The more time zones you cross, the more likely you are to feel jet lag.
  • Flying east. You may find it harder to fly east, when you "lose" time, than to fly west, when you "gain" time.
  • Being a frequent flyer. Pilots, flight attendants and business travelers are most likely to experience jet lag.
  • Being an older adult. Older adults may need more time to recover from jet lag.

You just listed the job requirements of the president and made concessions about why Biden shouldn’t have to meet those requirements?
No, the president doesn’t get to work from home. He needs to go home and stay there while someone else runs. The idea that he will somehow last another 5 years is lunacy. Democrats are out of their minds defending this elder abuse.

Whitehouse.gov saying “no, the president is fine we promise” means nothing to me. Not exactly an unbiased source. Any adult with a brain can clearly see Biden is suffering with severe cognitive decline. The small handful of people still trying to deny it are crazy to think that idea will somehow track with people who have eyes and ears. People are saying they can see an old man mumbling incoherently, constantly losing his train of thought, falling asleep at events and being corralled by handlers, and your response is “no, read this thing that says otherwise.”
At some point you have to actually look at the world around you.

Didn't see anything in that list that includes "flying on Air Force One with all the creature comforts one could ask for" making a difference.

Ahh, I see...exaggerate much?...you could not support your claim with anything other than your myopic opinion, so now you're relegated to simply disputing the source I provided.

...sorry, I'm not impressed. I'll take Kevin O'Connor's signed testament over your unsupported claim every time.
