In response to suit brought by Republican attorneys general, courts blocked more of President Biden's student loan forgiveness. Missouri attorney general crowed victory for those who think people should pay their way.
Translation, if you aren't rich, don't expect to go to college.

Basically, what's been coming out today is former Republican Steve Schmidt, of Lincoln Project fame and the guy who convinced the McCain campaign to go with Sarah Palin as VP, has been covertly working against Biden for months. First, he helped launch Dean Phillips' campaign, but being involved in that would have kept him from working with his "Pass The Torch" superPAC.

Pass the Torch is very powerful financially. It's being reported that Schmidt has threatened to withhold funding from at-risk Congressional Dems if they don't come out against Biden staying in the race.

So when we say both sides are controlled by the same people... It kind of means what you think it means.

Yep. Although, this wasn't exactly the way I saw it on my bingo card.

And I'm not endorsing this idea yet. I am keeping an eye on it. Since Citizens United, there is too much money in political campaigning and the struggles of mass media have left it susceptible to big money, so I've been worried someone would put these things together and basically play kingmaker.

It's POSSIBLE. I'm hoping one of the few creditable media sources in the world will dive into this. At the moment, it's a little more than a plausible conspiracy theory. I'd like to see more of a tangible paper trail, maybe a few of these at-risk Dem candidates confirm Schmidt blackmailed them, before I really buy into it.

Another thing that would give credence to this is if Kamala Harris is passed over in the event Biden withdraws. Supposedly this group doesn't want her, either, but I think most casual observers would expect her to be the candidate if it isn't Biden.

Here's another thread ...

Peter Thiel funds JD Vance. Peter Theil also employs Nate Silver, who runs the 538 polling website and has been advocating Biden to step aside.

Of course, Thiel founded PayPal and therefore has ties to Elon Musk.

Ocasio-Cortez explained these people want to replace entire ticket.
Interesting. Sanders, AOC and others in progressive wing solidly behind Biden. The ones who aren't are saying ohy donors, not oh my voters.
Over 1400 Black women leaders signed letter backing Biden.

That would make sense, too. The faction that's supposedly trying to oust Biden is headed by never-Trump Republicans. Definitely to the right of Bernie and AOC.

Biden steps down this weekend, Kamala is not getting his endorsement and there will be an open convention. Since the DNC cancelled the primary, delegates will choose the nominee and not the voters. That’s the version of democracy democrats keep screaming is “at stake” lol.

Guess it depends where you’re from my guy….. where I grew up, that’s the sign of the Woodlawn Park Bloods.

And for HCP, it's the symbol for "I just mowed your lawn, that'll be 5 bucks" gang.

The people against him are either people who are lemmings, or people who realize their taxes are better off under a trump administration and him being president will have 0 impact on their lives.

In fact, it would likely further *depress* the price of skilled labor...

The price of skilled labor isn’t going down for awhile. There needs to be enough supply for that, and there isn’t. The younger generations are now just barely catching up on the college scam and beginning to enter the trades in lieu of lifelong debt and customer service jobs. I think it will be a number of years before the market catches up.

It’s because they don’t want Trump to be president but they know Biden isn’t the best candidate to beat him.

This election is important and loyalty doesn’t mean jack with what’s at stake

Yeah, I changed that to depress. And yes, the price of skilled labor has been depressed. And the wealthy want to keep it as depressed as possible.

Automation, AI and robotics will come into play here. In fact, it already is.

I'm not sure that makes much sense. Steve Schmidt surely has no power over congressional democrats. He doesn't control any significant funding for democrats.

Eric Weinstein talks a lot about how the green card system was created to suppress the wages of highly skilled jobs. And migration from the southern border can suppress wages for low income earners.

People get emotional about it, but it's a numbers game. There's a point to where they might be filling needs and a point to where they suppress wages.

Yeah, with a bad immigration system that forces people to work illegally. Imagine if they didn't have to do that and could demand a higher wage...

CEOs and other business leaders who supported Democrats in the past are getting behind Trump due to Biden wanting them to pay, not their fair share, but a slightly larger share of taxes. They would hardly be impoverished. And they know exactly what Trump is. But tax cuts for the rich trump, pun intended, the Constitution.
