Why would you say “other than 3pt shooting “? That’s a huge skill in today’s NBA and CJ is much better at it than Ellis. On that basis alone he’s the superior player.

They changed one major thing because he wasn't good enough to be in the future plans. Trying to say CJ or Lillard is the same as Ellis is kind of wrong on every level. They are both head and shoulders better than Monta Ellis. But i do understand the Blazers could trade one of them and get some good pieces back but they would also have to tank to get a top 10 pick to replace CJ eventually.

Raw stats favor Ellis, pace adjusted and advanced stats are both pretty close. Really not much separation either way.

Did the Warriors make the playoffs that year? In fact, how many years did Ellis help the Warriors make the playoffs?

I disagree. The GS backcourt at the time was Curry and Ellis. If they would have let it bake, they would have never replaced Ellis with Klay. I understand they drafted Klay before they traded Ellis, but the Curry Ellis backcourt is the closest example I have ever seen to what we have now. GS took a chance on trading Monte as he was a key scorer for them. That bet paid off quite well. I would like the Blazers to learn from history.

Sure, that’s EXACTLY what I was saying. As others have posted, CJ and Ellis have pretty similar stats, EXCEPT for 3pt shooting. You make a comment asking why CJ is better “other than 3pt shooting”. Given that that skill is a significant one in today’s NBA, tossing it out when comparing two pretty similar players makes no sense. Just for the record, that Lebron guy has better stats than CJ in multiple categories. I’d probably take him for my pickup team over CJ.

The guy has been on my case since day 1. Look at the date I joined. I didn't stick around because how he reacted to my posts and many others. I see no reason to give the guy any respect when he never showed me respect now and when I first joined.

We live in different realities. Ellis was the starter with Curry. Are you disputing that? Klay replaced Ellis. We don't have a Klay (yet).

I would settle for a net plus defender who can shoot above 33% and has the potential to create his own shot some day. You and I have very different views of CJ. I can't see how anyone could watch what NO did to the Blazers and come out of it thinking CJ is a good defender.

If you can bring in Pop, Sloan, Phil Jackson, or another proven elite level coach or upcoming guy like Stevens or Budenholzer you could convince me we might see some improvement. But if that guy isn't lined up there is literally no reason to make a change right now.

Our bad contracts will be very tradeable next season as short term deals.

Tradeable for what? Equal contracts, but how can we trade for good, equal contracts with no assets? Those contracts won't help us anymore with a year left than they are now.

"If we don't have that guy lined up"... We could hire Messina or Budenholzer right now... thats an improvement.
