Recent Blazers’ history has had names mentioned in the media of players Lillard would like to play with.
Grant was a cultivated relationship … a year left on contract … Portland ties didn’t hurt … a TPE was just big enough … and an acquired future 1st rounder was conveyed. Lotsa smoke.
Vanderbilt and OG and Bridges. Mentioned by Lillard but not acquired. Little bit of smoke.
My point is a significant amount of smoke, recently, was generated by Lillard.
And now, his and Miami’s water bearer — Shams — happens to mention a team that …
… actually fits as a trade partner
… has a GM not known for conventional wisdom as seen with Kawhi Leonard
… who is in position for win-now BUT has 3 bigger contract to decide upon in ONE year
… and any of the 3 best forwards Toronto has makes for a better deal than ANYTHING Miami could put together.
And what do they lack? A high quality PG leader who hits 3’s.
So no wonder that Shams facilitates trying to warn off an actual threat to Miami … again.
