Trade Deadline: February 6, 2025

Lakers don't need Williams or Grant anymore.

I guess at least we aren't helping them.

For those of you who are so sure that we're not making any moves, do you have some sort of sources?

Don't get me wrong Joe tends to be risk averse and the team is performing past expectations so I could see the deadline coming and going without any move at all. I could also see multiple starters being traded. We might see something on the margins. We have a little more than 13 hours to wait and find out.

"They’re open to moving any of their veterans—particularly Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons and Deandre Ayton, although it’s tough to see Ayton having much of a market right now.

"I don’t expect them to put more of their draft picks in play in deals (particularly the 2028-30 Bucks picks and swaps they got in the Lillard trade, which are looking pretty valuable), but if they’re getting back a good enough player that truly moves the needle, you can’t completely rule it out."

The needle-moving player in question would almost definitely have to gel with the current core of Portland as well as fit the youth movement set in place for the future. Because of the recent success, this might mean a player that has been in trade rumors all season — Robert Williams III — has a slightly higher asking price than a month ago per Highkin.

I am not sure that is a big overpay -- have you seen his stats .. now that is for a bad team . It might be a slight overpay but this might be in the same vein as when the Blazers traded for Deni

Guess Knect was a bust afterall.
Not according to the “Draft Experts” on here. FAMS, it just takes about 10 games of advanced scouting to shut these kids down. The REAL ones will get there’s… but the pretenders get figured out. That’s why I’ve been so impressed with Scoot’s turnaround.

Yes, the guy who lives and breathes basketball, has spent nearly 20 years with the organization, and worked his way to General Manager is a dumb shit, and should be paying attention to fan forums for direction.
Well thats basically what The Uber Driver said about ME this past summer….HA!

This deadline is exactly why the team should have been tanking. Now the dumb shit gm has them going after a playin spot. Asinine.
Too much talent to tank. When Scoot plays better, we play better. You want to hold him out while he’s learning so much?

Lol Lakers got fleeced. You love to see it.
Mmmmm, I don’t know FAMS. This young big man is filling a massive need for them and can help if he stays healthy. He definitely is going too help them more than the crap they gave up.

Unless Mark Williams improves to an above average starter that's an overpay from LAL.

I thought they'd be able to get a big and a defensive wing with their FRP.

I understand moving on from Dalton as that's not really an archetype you need with Luka. But that's 3 nice assets they gave up for Mark.
Mark is good. 27.56 PER. 4th best in the NBA. And he’s 23. Not sure why Hornets traded him. Just dumb I guess.

Lakers sent them the '31 pick?

A move is certainly still possible, just looks like all the lanes are drying up, especially for Grant.

All the teams were were said to be talking with have gone different directions and made other moves.

Looks like Cronin missed out on moving some players. Sounds like he decided on not moving Williams and whatever small amount of rumors there are seem to point to staying pat at the deadline.

12 more hours! But yeah, you’re probably right.

I’m saying he has no leverage to demand 50m. The Raps will not have to max him.

When has leverage ever stopped a player from getting paid? Every off-season we see players get signed for bloated deals with no competition. Check Jerami Grant.

He's played in 40% of his games.

It's like they paid more for a lesser timelord.

So basically Ant/Ayton are big expirings for next years trade deadline? The only real shit contract we are stuck with is Grant long term?
I hadn't considered that... Okay... That might be alright. AAEC.

We should be able to add something with one of those contracts... At least, there's a chance...
