Anyone want to unravel why 76ers do this trade for me? Also their earlier trade of Martin.
Oh, they traded both Martins. Huh, are these moves just to get below the lux tax for a disappointing season?

@Mediocre Man we need a who do we blame thread for no trades happening.

Probably fans who have no realistic expectations for what trades make sense or can actually happen?

At the risk of being called a 16 year old, like seriously, who can they trade for that makes sense and (here's the kicker) actually is realistic?

A lot of the players that seemed to make sense were already moved somewhere else. I'm thinking now we're standing pat, because I have no idea who still would be interested in some of our vets. The only thing I still could see is Ant to Orlando, but for what?
If we trade with Orlando, I want one of their three PFs (Banchero, Wagner, Isaac). The one thing we lack is a true, facing the basket PF.

As if! Talk to the hand!

I don't think the desire here is to trade for a player.

It's to move guys who are standing in the way of players we want to develop for the future. Some of the vets have very clearly become a crutch for Billups in his lame duck season as he seems to prioritize wins. Cronin's (in)activity is a direct causal reason for that.

Having Scoot and Shae play less than 20 mins each in and OT game when both were playing well is unacceptable.

Still holding hope for at least one of these trades.

Rob to Houston.
Ant to Orlando or Detroit.

Unrealistic but hopeful:
Ayton to Charlotte.
Grant to anywhere.

The bar is very low. Come on Cronin.

Thread on Clutchfans about teams calling for Cam Whitmore.

I would venture we are trying to get him for Rob.

Landale +Whitmore for Rob works almost perfectly.

I am OK with this as long as we have a plan to move Ant/Grant in the next yr.

I would've thought Banchero/Wagner swap with any player on our team was a pipe dream - but with Luka getting dumped who knows.

The time to address this was first when Olshey was fired, if not then - certainly when Dame was traded, if not then than certainly last offseason.

Sure it will be a failure if now nothing has been done over that whole time frame. Some Cronin supporters will point to today and say we don't know the specifics of what every NBA team might exactly offer the Blazers and try to use that excuse for the lack of activity today. But we do know this will have been YEARS the Blazers have done nothing with multiple players that make zero long term sense here.

I can certainly see Joe and his supporters using the 9 of 10 win streak to justify no action. But then we have multiple reports the Blazers will shut down vets tonight or in a week after the allstar break to begin tanking. If we don't do a trade because of the 9 wins - but then we shut players down to tank its just another example of a franchise making decisions without a consistent direction. That two timelines crap has been the case since the day Olshey was fired.

Rumors are that the Wizards are going hard after Whitmore.
I hope we are as well.

For those of you who are so sure that we're not making any moves, do you have some sort of sources?.

again....the speculation around here right now about potential trades of the vets is the same kind of speculation as a year ago and al that happened was Banton

I think a lot of us here don't see the logic of holding onto the vets, but it's pretty clear Cronin's logic is different. In fact, I think he's fine with riding the contract till they expire and likely resigning most of those vets

he's not just risk adverse He's got a view of player value most of us don't share, and the rest of the NBA likely doesn't share either. And the winning streak probably seems like major vindication to him

I don't see an opportunity for Whitmore unless Ant/Grant or both are moved. I certainly don't want to see Scoot or Sharpe moved to their string.
