Not if you compare apples to apples. Both played SG next to Dame when they were 23. Ant bested CJ's AST% 18.6 to 10.3 and also bested CJ's TO% 10.2 to 10.8

CJ is finally playing PG for the Pels, a role that some of us regularly suggested would be his best. I feel the same way about Simons

Not even remotely close to apples to apples. You're comparing CJ's second season, where he played 30-some-odd games in his first season, to Anfernee's 5th season, where he has had over 200 games of experience.

Either way, in their most recent seasons (as Blazers) they have virtually the same AST/TO numbers, and everyone knows CJ was ass at PG.

CJ is finally playing PG for the Pels - and had the lowest PER season of his career (where he was actually consistently playing) and second-lowest win shares.

Eh, I don't understand why. Ant is probably the best three point shooter in the entire league 23 and under. He has decent size and great athleticism for a Point Guard.

He'll be good enough to be a championship calibre pg in a couple years. Not Dame level, but probably Terry Porter.

Beg to differ. Ant can shoot when he is on but he is streaky.

Dame knows and Porter knew how to run an offense.

Ant hasn't the slightest clue IMO. When he is playing "PG", the offense seems to grind to a halt.

I would trust Skylar Mays with running a decent offense much more than I would trust Ant (or Keon - another psuedo-PG).

We have differing opinions but from my perspective, if we trade Dame and Ant is our anointed PG, I'll plan on regular trips to the lottery.

So Blazers got #4, 3 (Webster) 1(Oden)..... And now we got 3 again. When was the next top5 pick? Maybe Bowey over Jordan in 1984 that was what.... 39 years ago?

We shouldn't dismiss a top 3 pick as though it needs to be thrown away for some debt to placate a Dame regrett. This is one of the rare assets to set our franchise on a good path the next decade with Sharpe, and hopefully many more great players in the future.
Yeah we have to remember if Sharpe had played one year college and was in this draft where would he be? 2? 3? 5-8?
I’m thinking he might be top 4?

Do we go with BPA (Scoot) and then try to trade out of the logjam? How many more 6'2" guards does this team need?

So in your mind, college experience doesn't matter? You think that guys magically get better sitting on the bench? I heard Steve Kerr today lamenting the lack of development of young players because during the season teams average 1-2 practices a week. Young guys who don't play much basically rot on the bench in the NBA because of a lack of opportunity & coaching. It wasn't until Ant's 4th year in the league where he got decent game minutes, where as CJ never averaged less then 30 in college... plus he was coached regularly in many more practices. There is no question which guy was more prepared for NBA game play in their 23rd year, so you're right... not even remotely close to apples to apples.

We're going to trade down in the draft for 2 of this year's OKC's draft picks and 1 of their protected 1st round picks next year.

They we're going to package those 3 1st round picks and Ant and Nurk for something good.

If we trade this pick to get some late 20's rung-below-all star player to keep Dame happy, I'm a Spurs fan for the next decade. But I don't think that's Cronin's plan, to be honest.

What will be interesting is if Scoot drops to #3. Then the shit really hits the fan.

I’d start learning about the Alamo if I were you. FYI, it has no basement

If you trade the pick for a player and maybe future picks you better not miss on that trade. If your doing what Dame wants and trade the pick for veterans players again you better not miss.
The thing is that even if you DON'T miss on that trade, the team might not be good enough to be relevant, and you've lost a cheap young player with a lot of potential.

I still don't think Siakam is anywhere good enough to make us a HCA-level team, let alone a title contender.

Giving up a decade-younger dude and effective players in order to placate your aging star and hoping to get HCA... it's just dumb.

WWSPD? Who Would Sam Presti Draft?

I have a sneaking suspicion it would be Anthony Black.

Tickets to Spurs games?

Am I nuts for wanting the 3rd pick to stay in Portland? How often does PDX get this lucky?

Seeing you all suggest Siakam for Ant plus #3 feels like a huge over pay on the part of the Blazers.

To me you keep it and take the player and then use the other parts in play and see what you
can do?

Sure Dame wants some solid veteran additions to try and be competitive and I get that and would like it to happen but don’t think moving the highest draft pick since you won the lottery 16 years ago is the smart play unless it’s for a sure fire all star on a non expiring deal.

You have been on the Trade Dame wagon for quite some time. I can’t say you are wrong? I just guess it’s not really what most want to do?
