Dude 2 years is a long ways? We’re obviously not winning a ring in the next 2 years. So what’s the point of keeping Dame? Get real man

I’ve settled down a bit, very disappointed we lost Wemby by one number on one ball BUT we did move up and trade it or use it moving up to 3 ensures one thing in my mind, no way we trade Sharpe. Nothing available is worth Sharpe and 3 so that is a huge win and relief.

Well…. They can always tank again next year. Just sayin.

Am I nuts for wanting the 3rd pick to stay in Portland? How often does PDX get this lucky?
great point.

these are the past #3 overall picks in the past 10 yrs yrs:
- Jabari Smith
- Evan Mobley
- LaMelo Ball
- RJ Barrett
- Luka Doncic
- Jayson Tatum
- Jaylen Brown
- Jahlil Okafor
- Joel Embiid
- Otto Porter Jr.

4 out of 10 are All NBA players this year.
3 out of 10 were All NBA first team.
1 out of 10 has been named MVP.
5 out of 10 are have been named all stars in their careers.
4 appearances on all NBA defensive teams.

the haul in return for the #3 pick should not be diminished just because it comes after Wemby. ya we didn't get the super duper star, but we should be getting an all star caliber talent in the next few years if we select correctly and develop him. any return in a trade should match that.

In this draft?
In any draft!
2022: Too soon
2021: Evan Mobley
2020: Tyrese Halliburton (honorable mention: Desmond Bane)
2019: Darius Garland
2018: Luka Doncic
2017: Jayson Tatum
2016: Jalen Brown (honorable mention: Sabonis Jr.)
2015: Devin Booker (hm: Porzingis)
2014: Joel Embiid
2013: GIANNIS
2012: DAME

etc.

Ask not who was TAKEN at #3, ask who was AVAILABLE. Good GMs (Sam Presti) take the player they want and not who mock drafts say you should take.

research then post. Posters badly guessing at easily verified facts (like a players age), is completely counterproductive to our conversations.

Doubling down on your bad speculations, I've been consistently talking about how far away this team is from being a contender for many years now. Are you going to throw more BS speculations into the mix on your next post?

you mean like swinging for Sharpe at 7?

if there's one thing I trust our front office on, it's their drafting. Getting commensurate value in trades is another matter.

We're going to trade down in the draft for 2 of this year's OKC's draft picks and 1 of their protected 1st round picks next year.

They we're going to package those 3 1st round picks and Ant and Nurk for something good.

Blevins.

Trade Dame. Rebuild around #3, Sharpe, Ant and the haul we get for Dame. Just bite the bullet and start the rebuild.
I kind of agree. But even if we keep Dame, do not trade #3. This is the pick that drafted Michael Jordan and Jayson Tatum.

In 2017-18, the Boston Celtics won 55 games with a starting lineup featuring Kyrie, and 2nd year wing in Jaylen Brown, and a rookie 3rd pick in Tatum.

Can that be Dame/Sharpe/Miller?

Celts also had Smart and Horford but I wonder how patient Dame is really. A similar sort of team is somewhat re-creatable

What we'll never know is that we actually did win #1 pick but the NBA overruled it for this reason.
Ernst and Young (big 4 accounting firm of all public stock companies) was in the room and attested the agreed upon procedures were followed.

Add up the NBA players salary of LeBron, Dame, Giannis, and down the line to every single NBA player...yes combine them all, multiple that by 9, and it's less than Ernst and Youngs 2022 revenue. Yeah I don't think they give a shit about harming their reputation for your nutjob delusional conspiracy theory fantasy of the world trying to screw the Blazers over.

Sharpe and Ant play the same position, which our GM has even noted, so that’s not gonna happen
I think he means in a lineup WITH DAME, Sharpr & Simons play the same position. But Simons can play point if we trade Dame. We saw that in 2021-22.

You have been on the Trade Dame wagon for quite some time. I can’t say you are wrong? I just guess it’s not really what most want to do?
Yeah it might not be popular. Sorry to be like a broken record :)

Seeing you all suggest Siakam for Ant plus #3 feels like a huge over pay on the part of the Blazers.

To me you keep it and take the player and then use the other parts in play and see what you
can do?

Sure Dame wants some solid veteran additions to try and be competitive and I get that and would like it to happen but don’t think moving the highest draft pick since you won the lottery 16 years ago is the smart play unless it’s for a sure fire all star on a non expiring deal.
To me, the other people are nuts.

Had a great time at Illani. Got to do part of a segment of an interview with Chad Doing on 620 AM and then out table got video taken for KOIN 6 and one of the people at our table did a live interview.

It sucks to come so close (1 Lotto ball) away from #1. That is the 2nd time that has happened. (The Derrick Rose Draft was the other).
It will be interesting to see what Dame thinks about this and what Portland might be able to get via a trade if that is what they decide to do. They may explore, and then decide they don't like the value they are getting back and go ahead and make the pick. If that do that, will Dame change his mind? What if Charlotte takes Miller at #2 and Portland is left at #3 with Scoot? Scoot certainly doesn't fit with Dame, but what packages might there be for him?

It sounds like Charlotte is open to trading their #2 pick so it will be an interesting few weeks.

I'd rather have a younger team (that has talented guys with potential above undrafted FA-level guys) that plays its best players for close to 82 games and finishes in the lottery than what we've had the last couple of years.

Who wouldn't prefer that?

I'm right there with you. Draft BPA at 3. Trade Dame for as many assets as possible. Grow.

Simons + Nas + #3 for Siakam + #13

Nurk + 13 + 23 for the best center available.

Dame needs to be involved in feeling out certain players who only have 1 year left on their contracts. Would they re-sign............ I guess you could ask their agent as well, but I trust the players more.

Evidence of Charlotte willing to trade?
