But if you are trading #3 for vet help to go for it, it would only make sense you trade Sharpe for the same reason. Why trade one prospect for vet help, which won't be enough, and not trade the other for a full out go for it? That is my greatest fear. Portland will trade all young assets not ready right now to contribute to a championship for guys that have marginal value towards winning one. And after it doesn't work, you will have less than nothing in 3 years.

Get Scoot or Miller to add to Sharpe and build with youth and athletes. Get rid of all that don't fit the team game. They don't have to rebuild, but they do need to retool. Even if the retooling with youth doesn't win it all, it will be a much better game of basketball to watch.

Sharpe showed he could go to the next level without the likes of Lillard and and Ant on the floor. Playing the role of 3rd seat is much different and I don't know at his age and lack of experience that he is ready for that on a championship team. Add to the fact they want to add proven guys for a win-now season, who else on this roster will acquire that? Anyone who thinks Ant and/or Nurk will get back a difference maker is not seeing clearly. Grant sign-and-trade could bring back a Grant type player. Sharpe is the clear cut guy to improve immediate talent, but it will come at the cost of long term talent when he peaks for another team.

Exactly and I don't see that happening. He is a team guy to a certain point. He didn't take less to help nor did he have to. He won't give up the ball to win. It just isn't in his DNA. He could win a championship in the perfect setting, but for the life of me I don't see how Portland can build that. They don't have the salary, the assets, or the vision.

Well sure but Raptors fans want Sharpe and #3 for Siakam. I'd hope there is no way we consider #3 in a KAT trade. Now if its #23 or a future protected pick, then fine.

I hate the idea of KAT. He's not moving any needle. He hasn't moved it in Minny and wouldn't move it in Portland

my thinking is, after looking at his contract(s), there's no way the Vulcans would approve any trade than brings in KAT

I just listened to a Wolves channel where their guys were talking about Ant + #3 + filler for KAT + Prince. So I think anything short of the #3 gets rejected by the Wolves. I'm not giving up #3 for KAT's contract. The best ability is availability.

I know people don't want Simmons, but he only has a couple years left on his deal, while Nurk still has 3 years. If we can get Claxton and a pick to take on Simmons, I think it would be worth it. Maybe Simmons can turn things around. Maybe not.

Maybe my price is too steep for the Thunder, but I'd like to see how much we could get out of them.

They are both poor rebounders.

Siakam is 9.8, 11.2, and 10.4
We need at least 1 of the forwards to be adequate on the boards. Maybe the target for the forwards ought to be Bridges & John Collins....

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying that since Siakam gets a lot more rebounds than Bridges, it would be better to pair Siakam with a weak rebounder like Grant.

Blazers fans are so against picking at 3 that we're willing to trade it for another Jeremi Grant-level player and actually talking about how we have to move more along with the pick to get them.

We're literally undervaluing our own asset and rationalizing why it's not worth more, and, thereby driving down what we could get for the pick.

That's awful business. You don't tell the public you're in trouble and you're going to get rid of the pick. It's like having a brand new sports car and putting it out there that it's going to be on sale so don't pay the premium price now.

At the very least, the Blazers and their fans should hype the pick and leave the possibility open that we'll use it if we don't get a deal worth that asset. The market determines the value, not what the pick is worth to the Blazers themselves. Let it.

Lavine and Williams aren't worth that pick, especially if we're actually giving up more to sweeten the pot. Anunoby is not worth that pick. Randle is not worth that pick.

People are already against drafting Scoot because we have Dame. Suggs doesn’t get rid of that problem. I would take Franz/#6/#11 for #3/Nas. Try to draft Ausar at #6, then BPA at #11, use #11 and #23 to trade up for a Schmitz approved guy.

IF.....we got Franz and could get Hendricks at #6, that might be interesting. It is a lot of length, Franz can score, Hendricks can shoot and play defense. Neither is as good as what we would get at #3, but together, they add a lot of what Portland needs. We keep the scoring in the backcourt and still have Ant to trade if needed. Since we are more than 1 player away, this isn't blowing Kenny Vance's skirt up, but it addresses a lot of needs.
