Can Zion even pass a physical right now? If either team is seriously considering this deal with Zion as the foundational piece from the Pelicans, you'd think that either the Hornets or the Blazers would demand that their doctors see Zion first. You'd also likely want to speak with Zion and his representation as well.

I understand the upside, and if a trade were to happen I'd be rooting for Zion with all my energy... but man there are a lot of questions... injury issues, weight, personal drama, major defensive deficiences, etc.

Even if he were to miraculously stay healthy for a year or two, how long would you have until the wheels come off? He's almost 23 now... will he be able to play after like 27? It's scary, but that's a real concern.

He's a dude that could legit help get you a ring..... but he's like Ben Simmons. It seems like his head and his heart just isn't in it.

That's why it's a Bill Walton Part Deux type, chips all in move. You play him no matter what. He may never get his weight just right, ever!

Zion is an incredible offensive talent to be sure, but he ain't close to have a relatively healthy and prime Bill Walton's impact on the game...

Again, someone could maybe talk me into pushing in said chips for Zion (it would be a hell of an argument), but I would absolutely need other assets (#14, Jones, future picks, etc.) to take on that gamble.

I think he wants to play, but i think he wants to be accepted for who he is now. "I ams what I ams." Popeye used to say.

Still like to add DeRozen as well. Sharpe could be 6th man. If the Blazers make that deal, the Blazers have to just take the plastic off and let Zion play. What happens, happens. No more kid gloves. His weight may never get better. It would be a Brandon Roy type move. Get what you can until you can't no more.

I think Sharpe has a starting spot. I would rather go after an athletic high motor defensive center. That would be an extremely athletic team that is top 4 and possibly higher if Sharpe has a big jump (no pun intended).

Hey Dame can get him involved in Boxing so when he's done with hoops, he can become a heavyweight fighter.

That's fair. I just got a super vibe about DeRozan joining the Blazers.

Have you found any Chicago Bull scenarios that are even remotely sane? The proposals I have seen so far (Just not with the Blazers) are all based on DDR as the big prize. I saw one that suggested Ant and #3 for DDR. That is crazy talk.

CHI media seems to treat DDR like he is Michael Jordan lite at 28 years old in most of their trade proposals. It is amazing how much they thing they can get for him.

I did not believe the tweet from Fisher. I think the Ayton-->PDX boat sailed the moment Ayton signed that offer sheet from Indiana

I also think it's kind of obvious the Suns would like to escape from Ayton's contract and from the distraction he is.

So, I'm the Suns GM and I'm trying to drum up interest in Ayton and inflate his value above where I know it to be. How do I do that?....hmmm...hey wait a minute...I know! Portland was rumored to be interested in Ayton a year ago; and they have the 3rd pick!! That's the ticket, I'll have an assistant leak that the Blazers are interested in Ayton to Jake Fisher on the down low and maybe some idiot will take a 2nd look at Ayton if they think the Blazers might trade the 3rd pick for him!

I have heard from a pretty good contact that Portland would be potentially interested in Ayton, but not for the #3 pick. I would likely take a 3rd team to make it work.

Zion will not want anything to do with Portland, the city. His family is running him as a business and want him in NY. I would say work a 3 way with NY, but they don't have anything really worthy of the 3 to NO and Knicks sending us assets. Stick to Ingram or move on.

Zion would have to pass a physical.

Apparently it's Zion. The scuttlebutt is that they want Scoot, and want to move off Zion. I just don't know how i feel about that. You love the potential. He could be all world. But his eating habits, injury history, and potential attitude about that makes me leery. But he could be Bill Walton Part Deux on the high side. Can he stay healthy for 3 years?
Is it worth the gamble. It would definitely be a chips to the middle of the table move.

Portland is absolutely the last team that should gamble on a player with the injury history, body type, and bad habits of Zion. He DOES NOT have #3 value for any team that is looking for a solid return

the poison pill is a factor too, although if I'm reading the provision correctly, if the trade wasn't completed till the off-season the PP isn't applied

still, I'll say again: Zion is the Pelicans massive dead weight boat anchor. It would be stupid for Portland to solve their giant problem AND send a #3 pick to them. Let the Pels suffer for the next 5 years watching Zion average 50 games a year in street clothes. Screw em

I too have heard scuttle about Ayton to PDX, but the 3 is a complete non-starter. But, John Gambadoro posted that Ayton/Portland is not happening. I believe him completely. He is incredibly credible down here and is very connected with all of our teams here. I am sure there were talks, but the ship sailed. My info was that the Suns really want Dame. I do not believe the 3 was in discussion unless the Suns wanted to flip it, but they want proven vets for depth. Suns are not interested in drafting a player. Win now.

The Ayton thing has left the building.

healthy Zion makes you top 4 team in west. Look how good NO was when he was in the lineup.

"healthy Zion" is like a Sasquatch....doesn't exist; or like an Oden, only existing in fever dreams. He's played in 114 games and missed 208. Basically, a 2:1 ratio...geeeezuzzz. Think about that in the context of this:

Not to quibble, but it is a 1:2 ratio when using the info as you presented it. Order matters. Completely again, he is NO's boat anchor until they dump him on NY, and it will happen IMO.

It's a gamble for sure. But people do win mega gambles. Some of the greatest companies in America were built on taking a gamble.

I didn't think that our players were the assets in the Pels deal, just salary matching. If Zion wants to be in NYC maybe this would work?
I'm not trading the #3 for anything New York, orthe Pels (sans Zion) have. I'd rather get Siakam, Bridges, or Brown. Or Draft Miller.

I don't see the Nets having an appetite for another headcase forward who can't stay healthy.
That's a good point. That being said they did do it once. Maybe the two of them get right together... like they sponsor each other or something. Damn if that team had Ben Simmons from two years ago at the point and healthy Zion at PF, they'd be pretty fun to watch. I realize both guys are probably more likely to continue to self destruct, so you're probably right.

The trade is Ant, Nas and #3 to the Pels, Zion to the Nets, Bridges and Claxton to us.

Charlotte wants Miller. They get him still, and an additional lotto pick for facilitating. N.O. movesd a ton of salary to get #2. Big risk on them losing Zion. If Scoot's their guy, though, they pay to land him. Orlando, I think this has been my default salary move for Simons in every deal I've done, lol. Portland takes a huge risk on Zion, but one with huge rewards.
