Guys... Simons is not that good. I’m OK to trade him.
Wait till he starts hitting 37% from three and closer to 90% from the line. Good chance he’ll become that best offensive player ever.Luka shoots 32% on the season from three but goes 8/12 on us. Of course.
It look like we was running Verizon of 2-3 defense if was properly run u shouldn't get corner 3 and and they shouldn't be able drive through zone with layins. Yes rebound sometimes can be a problem. It doesn't matter if we do play it right... The weaknesses of a zone are:
1.) It gives up open 3s
2.) It gives up driving lanes if the offense moves the ball
3.) It gives up offensive rebounds
4.) In the NBA, it's easy to pick up defensive 3 second calls
Please tell me how that makes any sense to run in this game.
Even score from midrange. Our paint scoring, and their three point shooting cancel each other out (almost). Their superior free throw shooting, and greater number of free throw attempts give them the win.Points in the Paint (% of total score)
Us - 62 (55.4%)
Them - 30 (25%)
Points from Midrange (% of total score)
Us - 8 (7.1%)
Them - 8 (6.7%)
Points from Three (% of total score)
Us - 27 (24.1%)
Them - 60 (50%)
Points from Free Throws (% of total score)
Us - 15 (13.4%)
Them - 22 (18.3%)
It's not a matter of teaching it, but a matter of trying to put your personnel in the great position to use their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. If you want Whiteside out at 30ft, that's fine. Spolstra didn't think that was a good idea. Stotts doesn't appear to think it's a good idea.
Stotts only knows strengths if its on his index card. Otherwise hes about as good as any poster on this board at coaching.
I'd love to watch people on here get a chance to coach an NBA team; as long as it's not Portland.

Man, Dallas lost a Legend in Dirk and now they have another one in Luka
do you understand that when you argue with somebody about coaching schemes, you're being just as much a wannabe coach as who you're arguing with?

He hedged at times, and he hedged the first game this season and did so perfecttly! Have you ever hedged a screen before? I hear all these people talking about how Stotts doesnt have the "personel" to hedge but it seems lile they dont really understand what goes into hedging screens.Erik Spoelstra did not think that was a great strategy in Miami.
Told you. I been saying that for months now. Dude is overrated as hell by the front office
Eh, even the best ran zones will still have those major weaknesses. Why do you think no one consistently runs it?It look like we was running Verizon of 2-3 defense if was properly run u shouldn't get corner 3 and and they shouldn't be able drive through zone with layins. Yes rebound sometimes can be a problem.
Isnt it obvious?Honest question... did you ever play competitive basketball?
Have you ever hedged a screen before?
The screen wasnt even there and Melo completely overplayed. Youre not suppoed to be all the way upcourt before the screen even gets there, you're supposed to time it right. Then right when the screen releases, the on-ball defender can fully recover, and the hedging defender releases back to the pop man. There ya go. Melo hedged and guess what? The pass went the other way and the Blazer got lucky and they missed the shot. Melo was about a second and a half late but he did hedge.
Explain the nuances of it then.Yes I have.

Hey, don't take it out on us because you got fooled into thinking a 19 year old out of high school (not top euro leagues) wouldnt have a learning curve.
Face it, you got fooled. Accept it. Not our fault you aren't thinking for yourself.
Yea I did. I was way wrong about him. I’d trade Simons for anything at this point

He is good and yes Luka Doncic might win a few chips. He has a great organization and an Owner that will support and spend to get another trophy. They also have a pretty darn good coach to lead them. Dallas looks to be in a good position to grow. That’s the type of player that you need in the nba to win a championship
