You asked if me if Root told the Blazers if the had a plan and implied Comcast did tell them that in the past. Correct? My analogy is that when big transactions are worked out, you make sure the things you value are put in writing, you don't go off someones word.
I'm not questioning if Root is paying the Blazers the most money, they probably are. I'm questioning if getting the most money on a deal is of greater value to organization than potentially converting non-fans into fringe fans, and fringe fans into die-hard fans through availabilty of their product. This increase would certainly lead to higher demand for their product, allowing them to increase ticket prices, sell more merch, etc. which in turn could actually make them more money.
Just like I might question a coaches or GMs move, I'm questioning McGowen and the Blazers here. My questioning doesn't mean I'm right and the Blazers are wrong. However, like other recent moves, the organization is struggling to make a deal anywhere without the honeymoon period wearing abnormally quick.
