OLSHEY FIRED

I'm not second questioning the move. It needed to be made and I fully support the investigation. Just saying that everything is a big mess right now. Loyal or not to Olshey this could be what makes Dame say it's not worth waiting out our current turmoil.
is it really turmoil though? is it also weird to think that dame's injury and poor play this season is a Godsend from this perspective? we have lost a few games already because Dame hasn't been Dame. It would be very awkward and unlike him to bail out now.

I think Dame is fully bought in right now and ownership wants to bring in the new person with the mindset of looking after the rest Dame's prime. I would expect this hire to be very collaborative and involving Dame.

yeah, didn’t they interview Barry for head coach? The familiarity, even if limited, will help him. I’m really intrigued by Prince though. Have read a lot of good stuff about his time in Memphis and you know there would be a healthy collaboration with Billups.

I'm honestly good with either.

GOD DAMN I COULD RUN THROUGH A WALL WITH ALL THIS HOPE IM FEELING!

HE DID SOMETHING. Unlike Olshey.

In the years after Boston's title win, Ainge kept trying. He didn't stagnate. He kept trying to use what he had to make his team better. He wasn't scared.

And with an entitled fanbase like Boston's pissing at his every move.
This is absolutely hilarious.
He kept trying to use what he had to Pritchslap people.
And then he got called out for being too attached to his assets unless he was clearly winning a lopsided trade.
Remember when the Celtics had all those picks + young players and could land pretty much any one they wanted?

sorry for confusion....I meant the timing of the announcement

I'd think Seattle has known the results of the investigation for a while and was probably going to fire Olshey at some point. 12 hours after a 31 point home loss to a 6-14 team may have been optimal timing
...I think Friday the week after holiday had more to do with it being optimal :dunno:

100% this. Dame isn't going anywhere. If he has shown anything in this time here at all, is that he sticks through the bad shit.

And this shit has been bad.

Which is why I think they'll be a shakeup of the roster - a big one - within 2 months of hire for the new GM. CJ should be gone by the all star break if they care at all.

Doesn't not having a GM or having a new GM make that much more difficult?

dame don’t give a fuck about Neil lol, I wouldn’t worry about it either. If anything he’ll probably be more optimistic, I mean he’s been trying to get olshey to grow a pair for awhile now.

Shams says they’re beginning the process of finding a permanent person immediately. I’m hoping they find someone by new year. I’m not worried about evaluation time for the new guy, you only need to watch this team play three or four games to get it lol. Hopefully a CJ trade is not far behind.
while they will begin the process immediately, i don't see a hire happening before season's end.

hope i'm wrong though. this trade deadline is crucial to the future of this franchise.

I like your more optimistic take. Ill go with that for now, but if we don't turn it around this season and make a strong play off run then it could be Dames last year IMO.

I'm going off of what Scalma posted about Shams.

They are looking to find a permanent GM immediately.
shams simply said they are starting the process immediately. fischer indicated to me that they hire probably won't happen til next summer even if names are going around now.

Honestly, I think they will have one in a month or so.

I'm wondering if that's why they took so long to tell the results of the investigation? Maybe they were already doing the process?

Yes, my tin foil hat feels great.

Go back and read up on how KG ended up in Boston and who the head of bball ops was in Minny.

also, look up why Ainge stepped down in Boston and read how players around the league feel about him, and why players like Tatum/Brown insisted on having a Black coach, and why Stevens assumed Ainge's role. Ainge is thought of very poorly by players around the league for his lack of empathy and guys like Anthony Davis deliberately avoided the Celtics as a potential destination solely because of Ainge. We have no need for a guy like that in 2021.

Ainge sounds like Olshey.

Well that fucking sucks.

Hope, stay with me now!

1) Someone said Brent Barry interviewed for head coach but wouldn’t be surprised if that had some possible GM legs to it. Don’t remember who on the board had that idea. Good shout though. If Brent is hired I’d assume Brent dropped some “if I were the GM nuggets” to Jody and Bert. Lol.

2) I really feel like this is the END of the tailspin. Reaction from fans and pretty much around the league is essentially, “Well we know that shit show is over now.”

The question is… does another begin?

Getting this hire right and FAST is paramount to future success, obviously.

If they bring in Tayshaun as GM can we also bring back Sheed as an assistant?! Nance getting that T last night was great, but he could really use some coaching from the GOAT.

Why would they wait until the summer? They have big decisions to make and they need to get someone in ASAP.

This is my thinking too. we HAVE to have someone here for the trade deadline. Otherwise why would they fire now? I know olshey wouldn't have done shit because he's a fucking idiot, but the optics of it.

these would be the obvious things to do. our ownership seems to lack this common sense however.

yeah the deadline is what 3 months away? If they get someone in here within the next month that should leave plenty of time for evaluation and negotiations. And if nothing else, even if nothing happens at the deadline, it’ll give the new person time to prepare for an important summer.
