Mississippi on line 1.
Actually……I’ve spent some quality time in Mississippi and had planned to go back last spring until the pandemic fouled it up. Vicksburg, the Blues Trail and the Gulf Coast are all very enjoyable places to visit……and it seemed (at least to me) the races got along a little bit better than in Alabama. At least the white folks weren’t anywhere near as defensive and standoffish as I found them in Georgia and Alabama. All that said, I will avoid the place in the future until they get their shit together over the 2020 election, voting rights, an intelligent approach to Covid, yada, yada, yada……….now that I’ve scratched some travel itches I can afford to be more activist in voting with my wallet…..and that’s leaving one helluva lot of states off my future travel itineraries……

Born and grew up in two 3rd world countries (Vietnam and Thailand), and then spent every summer living with my dad in Arfuckingsauce until my HS senior year after I came to America. Arfuckingsauce was/is way worse. Got into many fights with little hillbillies while I was there. I did like the food.
I stopped in the very small town of Lockesburg on a Sunday morning for a late breakfast. It was an unsettling experience, as the customers (all local) knew I was a stranger passing through. They had to lean in to hear what I was ordering, and then seemed to watch my every bite. I was tempted to ask them for a chew count. If I’m the entertainment then it’s time to wolf my food down and hit the road quickly. Another thing that struck me was that virtually every vehicle on the road (mainly pick up trucks) was either hauling or towing ATVs. Apparently, in the buckle of the Bible Belt the real religion on Sundays is tearing up the countryside on 4 wheelers instead of sitting in church……

Trust me, Missouri is worse than those two states. I was born in Georgia and my father's family is all from Alabama.
Alabama is nice. My great grandfather is buried there.
Me too, along with other great grandfathers and two grandfathers. My two grandfathers and one of my great grandfathers were ass holes. Another great grandfather in Georgia was a minister.

Well, that's it for Biden. Can't believe he learned nothing from the Obama years. Biden committed an unpardonable sin today:

What was it, the sunglasses or the light colored suit?

Hey Joe....lets get the Border under control some. My aunt lives in Tucson and says its out of control and she's one of us that helps the immigrants in need. I do think like anything it needs to be managed appropriately. I know Hillary told Wall Street she wanted open borders but even independents like myself dont agree with that concept. And fuck OPEC use Texas oil! Come on Joe I support you 100% but lets have a little balance bud!

The U.S. has a responsibility to protect Afghans from the mass atrocities of the Taliban.

Maybe another 20 years will produce a different result.

It took us twenty years to learn what we already should have known (and probably did know); there is NO “conquering Afghanistan. History has shown for centuries that any attempt is a stalemate at best, an ass whupping at worst. Afghanistan has no real strategic value and our initial involvement was symbolic. We were reacting to 9/11. The only real value Afghanistan has is its mineral resources. And between the topography and the millenniums old tribal politics, rivalries and factions, there is no quick, easy or economically feasible way for ANYONE to extract them. It’s like we (and the Russians before us) were trying to plant our flag as a way of staking future claims (as if the realities of Afghanistan were EVER going to change). Talk about arrogance and hubris. Let the Taliban have Afghanistan. If twenty years of American blood and money hasn’t convinced the Afghani population that “democracy” is better than Islamic extremism, then it’s time to pull up stakes and concentrate on the more serious issues we face at home. The Afghanis will just have to live with the fruits of their disinterest/inaction. It’s not like the Russians or Chinese (or anyone else) are going to march in and take over. And if they do, they deserve what they get. Leave it to the political pearl clutchers to overreact to the inevitable. The real irony is that Trump is the one who set this plan in motion and now he’s blaming Biden. When Lewis Carroll wrote Alice In Wonderland, he had no idea he was writing a fable about twenty first century America……..

In the 1970s Kabul was called the Paris if West Asia. Cafes, theaters, bookstores, young women with uncovered heads and miniskirts going to work and school. In 1978 president was assassinated in Soviet backed coup. A year later Soviet Union invaded to back government and country has been at war since. In a Cold War knee jerk reaction US backed Mujahideen fighting government, and Taliban was born. Now women and girls are being forced into sexual slavery by encroaching Taliban, which media sanitizes into "forced marriage".

At least he says his views clearly; not like the former guy who screwed up this departure by not inviting the Afghan Government for US talks with the Taliban. Resentment and lost confidence in our Political arena are clearly evident as these guys used our country as a tool and now cannot organize themselves without big brother.
Unfortunately, this is another escape with lives wasted and money pissed down the drain from this occupied country. The pull out is just like Vietnam but as Biden thought "more was expected of them." They failed, we gave up. If they can't handle the Taliban then they have no guts for their own future. In retrospect, the Republican Presidents; the Bush's threw our country into this chaos 20 years ago .
