I agree with Joe. What was the difference between what Shaedon showed at the end of last season and what Ant showed the season before. Both guys have shown they can look really good as number one options while losing. Ant showed it at PG and got the starting SG nod. Shae actually showed it at the position that we're talking about him starting at.

As we always say the draft is a crap shoot, but the decision should come down to who has the best chance to be the best player in the draft outside of Victor. Average players can be found elsewhere. We can always find x-lottery picks (we picked up 3 last season) So unless Ausar, Henricks, Lively, or LMiller can wind up as good as Scoot or BMiller then I lean toward keeping 3.

Now I did say earlier I would prefer Wagner and #6 for #3, so that might sound hypocritical, but the difference in my mind is that Franz is proven, and not as much of a question mark as the 4 examples you named.

This is a supposedly one of the deepest Drafts in a long time. If this was next year's Draft, I'd say go with #3. But I'm not sure there is that great of a difference between 3 and 6 if it is Miller. If it is Scoot, I think he has a higher ceiling, but again, when is the last time a 6'2" ball dominant, scoring PG led their team to a championship? It just doesn't happen. So Scoot may be a great player like Dame, but not produce much in terms of team results. If I could get an Ausar Thompson who reminds me of a young Scottie Pippen, or a Taylor Hendricks who is a very good shooter with great length, AND another asset that has the makings of a solid piece, I'm going to trust that Schmitz will get us the right player and we have 2 pieces instead of 1.

do you think Scoot or Miller could potentially be that superstar? If so think we have to hang on to the pick. Personally feel like Scoot has that potential not sure Miller does so if Hornets take Scoot I would definitely consider the trade with Orlando.

As posted, I think Scoot could be that media superstar player. Lots of highlights, tons of stats, but historically, not the type of player that leads a team to rings. Miller I think has a lower ceiling, but could actually be exactly the type of player that contributes to a title team.....wing shooter who can defend. Neither IMO, could be the best player on a title winning team. Which is why I'm open to getting multiple somewhat similar pieces instead of just one.

guys like Grant, Carter, Reid, Thybulle, Reddish whatever off the bench. Need to replace Nurk in line up, but probably need to trade him to do that

- I'm leaning towards not trading for Siakam at all because I am not willing to give him an extension for probably $40m/year. Grant is also not going to come off the bench. You talk about Grant coming off the bench, and he'll dip as you blink.
- If Masai isn't taking Ant and #3, he's not going to take #6 and #11.

I'm going to assume the Simons for Wagner swap isn't on the table because they're not going to trade for Ant and then also add Scoot. If we get #6 and #11 and WCJ for Nas, I would rather draft two guys than try to find immediate impacts. Draft Ausar at #6 and Lively at #11, then try getting someone like DFS from BRK for Nurk and #23.

Appreciate the breakdown. Hadn't dug that deeply into his stats and only watched highlights. If he could be an explosive player with the ball who could play off it at times, that would add a dimension and makes the team better......and no matter whom we have/get/draft/trade for, that is the goal. No player is bigger than the team. Sadly, it feels a bit that way right now.

Nike has a lot invested in him, maybe by being in their back yard they can better influence his diet, while Dame can influence his work ethic. I know I add 5 pounds every time I go to New Orleans for a 3-day conference. That has to be the worst possible city for him to live in.

think i'm making up my mind on our workflow with the pick.

1. Trade it with salary for the best player available (this considers contract, age, positional fit. Bridges/Siakam/Brown/KAT are just some names).

if nothing manifests...

2. Take Scoot if Charlotte takes Miller and trade Ant for a wing.

if we're left with Miller et al...

3. Trade down for multiple assets and thread the needle to get an above average starter and clear up a runway for Sharpe while also getting an asset to use on a young guy. Get 6 + 11 or 4 + 20 + etc, and move secondary asset for vet who fits, while keeping the other pick for us.

This is my best guess, likely they'll combine the secondary asset attained with #23 and/or a salary to attain the vet. There will be some impact players available after the 3rd pick... I see value there

I don't think Scoot will be there for Portland at 3.

I wouldn't mind just drafting Brandon Miller and using Nurk/Simons/picks/free agency to get some immediate help.

I would do Nurk + Little for Ayton since Miller is on a rookie contract for some time. I would be willing to give up Miller and change for Mikael Bridges but I'm not fond of the other options.
